HDR is an architectural, engineering and consulting firm that excels at complex projects and solving challenges for clients. HDR is currently in need of a Region Quality Director who will need to be in one of HDR’s Central U.S. offices.
The Region Quality Director will represent the HDR Quality Office and HDR Quality Management System (QMS) within several managed areas covering the states of: (TX, OK, LA, AR, MO, KS, NE, IA, MN, SD, ND, IL, WI, MI)
Summary of Job Responsibilitie
They will identify and pursue regional and company QMS objectives, and convey corporate quality goals, policies, and improvement initiatives from inception through effective implementation. They will administer QMS development and training, resolve quality issues that impact the effectiveness of the HDR QMS, and promote HDR’s quality culture.
In the role of Region Quality Director, we’ll count on you to:
- Provide support and direction for the QMS; serve as an active partner with HDR’s Regional and Area Management Teams
- Work with Regional and Area Management Teams, and other Regional Quality Directors to implement quality improvements of services, operations and processes within regions and company wide
- Monitor and evaluate the culture of quality in area of responsibility and participate in review activities as appropriate
- Serve as regional advocate and resource for maintaining a strong quality culture and QMS
- Support the organization’s strategic plan and direction
- Identify training needs in the organization and assist both the Quality Office Director and Learning and Organizational Development Director as needed in the development of QMS related training
- Support quality internal audits by addressing identified non-conformances and developing Corrective Actions Plans with area leadership
- Review client report cards to identify trends in customer satisfaction and complaints
- Work with region and area leadership in development of their strategic plan for improving the culture of quality, staff engagement, employee awareness, client support, loss reduction, product quality, and improve workflow efficiencies
- Work with Quality Office Director in the development and pursuit of company quality initiatives (including standards and practices, tool and process development, and lessons learned)
- Evaluate acquisition quality programs/management systems as requested by the Quality Office Director; facilitate transition to and training of the HDR QMS
- Represent Regional/Area Management Team interests to the Quality Steering Committee. Participate in the development and review of policies, procedures, and standards
- Increase HDR recognition in business and industry through professional society presentations, committee membership, and in pursuit of national and customer quality awards.
Preferred locations are: Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Colorado, TX, Nebraska – preferably in a hub city with major airport access / directly flights to most key central region offices.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering or related professional field
- 5+ years of experience in quality management, quality engineering, quality control
- Must have a culture and value system that aligns with HDR and be able to develop an understanding of HDR business services, practices, and quality management system
- Strong written and verbal communication skills (with interview/fact-finding experience)
- Must have experience in management and development of multi-discipline teams
- A commitment to quality, improvement, and promoting and establishing a culture of quality at HDR
Preferred Qualifications
- ASQ Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (or ability to obtain certification within 1 year)
- An attitude and commitment to be an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
- Will be responsible to the Quality Office Director for regional quality activities and QMS development and compliance
- Must have a willingness to travel; the Regional Quality Director will travel more than 50% of the time.

The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $103,334 – $147,620 annually and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
