Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Technician I

A successful candidate will be in charge of carrying out all duties assigned to ensure safe, proper, and efficient plant operation of power generation equipment. Accountable for monitoring, operating, and adjusting boilers, chillers, gas turbines and all plant auxiliary equipment to operate efficiently. Delivers pertinent information and logs concerning repairs, tests, and modifications. This role takes direction from the Operations Manager.

What you’ll do:

  • Responsible for the safe, proper, and efficient operation of all machinery and related equipment as directed by the Operations and Maintenance Supervisors
  • Supports all the implementation of the ENGIE Health and Safety Standard for ENGIE utility operations which includes policies, programs, processes, and procedures
  • Examines contractor Health and Safety Executive Plans including oversight resource requirements to ensure full compliance with ENGIE Group Rules governing contract work
  • Knowledge of local and OHSA regulations. Monitors new and changing regulations and advises management on required training or action taken to ensure compliance
  • Analyze and graphically displays ENGIE NORAM HS KPI performance data against projected targets
  • Develops training programs and/or conducts training on mandated programs, such as lock out tag out, confined spaces, hazardous communication, and medical surveillance
  • Completes risk assessments and work environment reviews for each project during the development and planning stages to inform contract HS requirements
  • Capacity to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with all levels of management both at the unit and corporate level, as well, as governmental agencies
  • Accountable to report and keep the appropriate personnel informed by communicating verbally and in writing all pertinent information among the shift, between shifts, production support personnel, and management personnel
  • Competent in the normal operating conditions of each piece of plant equipment and aware of the present operating condition of each piece of plant equipment
  • Execute routine investigations as outlined in shift procedures. Record and ensure that plant operating logs are kept current and accurate
  • Responsible for knowing and following the Operations and Procedures, the Casualty Procedures, and any updates or revisions as well as maintaining daily housekeeping tasks
  • Capacity to respond to plant emergencies as well as provide relief, on-call, overtime, and additional support as needed. Accountable for scheduling necessary coverage for vacations/ emergency relief

What you bring:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Experience operating Gas Turbines
  • Maryland 1st Class Engineers License
  • Required to have a valid driver’s license
  • Necessary to have a home/personal telephone

  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy using working knowledge of a laptop or personal computer.
  • Must be able to detect and understand audible alarms, and detect changes in noise levels of rotating equipment and portable radio communication. Physically fit to walk stairs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
  • Willing to proactively able to wear protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to half and full-face respirators, fall protection equipment, hardhat, safety shoes, safety glasses etc.

  • Salary Range: $62,305 – $153,920 USD annually
  • Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
  • In addition to salary, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan
