- BS in Civil Engineering
- Licensed California Professional Engineer, required
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience with design, project/program management, and/or project coordination on transportation projects is preferred
- Previous experience as project manager or lead engineer for transportation engineering projects (planning, preliminary, and/or final design phase)
- Previous experience in track design for transit systems, such as streetcar, LRT, subway, commuter rail, or high-speed rail is preferred
- Experience with major public works clients in Southern California, including LA Metro and City of Los Angeles
- Experience with designing and/or managing alternative delivery projects is preferred
- Be able to mentor and help develop Junior and Intermediate engineers
- Demonstrated interest in developing and maintaining client relations
- Candidate should be familiar with model-based design utilizing various CAD software programs
- Excellent organization, written, and verbal communication skills and leading a team is very important for this role
- Ability to work with multiple agencies to manage projects in a collaborative fashion
- Involvement with professional organization(s), preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Methodical approach to problem solving
- Ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently
- Adaptable and flexible to working on multiple assignments and with different team members
Salary Range: $121,000 – $181,000

Job Description
We are seeking a Principal Project Manager to support our Southern California Rail & Transit group. The position will require knowledge of streets, urban/passenger rail, and/or transit programs and experience in project delivery, business development, and mentoring junior staff. This position shall be based out of either our Los Angeles or San Diego office. As Principal Project Manager you will be responsible for various leadership, project management, client relationship, and engineering design/review duties. More specifically, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Serves as Project Manager on small to large civil engineering transportation projects at any phase of design (planning through final detailed design) and including design services during construction;
- Manages project staff, including sub-consultants, scope of services, budgets and schedules and communicates closely with Clients;
- Prepares/reviews technical reports, specifications, design and contract documents, quantity take-offs, estimates, and calculations;
- Oversees/trains junior staff in civil engineering design;
- Works as part of an integrated cross-discipline team solving complex technical problems on some of Southern California’s most significant transportation projects;
- Actively participates in business development for transportation work, including client outreach and preparing technical and cost proposals;
- Participates with senior leaders in the establishment of short- and long-term to support the growth of the Southern California Rail and Transit group;
- Participates actively in internal and external development and training activities, including professional industry organizations.
