As an Engineering Technical Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in our project design delivery team within Lane County’s Engineering and Construction Services Division. Working as an integrated team member, you will be at the forefront of exciting engineering initiatives that shape our community’s infrastructure and improve the lives of its residents.
This position offers a unique opportunity to work on diverse and challenging projects, spanning from road and bridge design to utility systems and transportation planning. You will be involved in every stage of the project lifecycle, from initial concept development to final implementation, ensuring that our designs are innovative, efficient, and in compliance with applicable regulations.

Typical job duties:
- Use AutoCAD Civil3D software to prepare technical drawings that meet industry standards. Work with engineers and design professionals to produce drawings that meet technical specifications, accurate dimensions and quantities of materials.
- Develop, maintain and implement AutoCAD Civil3D drafting and file management standards to be used department-wide, including a library of standard drawing templates, fonts, and plotting styles to provide uniformity of drawings produced.
- Provide training to Engineers, Designers, and employees on drafting and file management while using AutoCAD Civil3D.
- Update original contract drawings to reflect “as-constructed” conditions after a project is complete.
- Engineering – Responsibilities for those with engineering related assignments will generally include assisting with the survey, design, and construction of public improvements; collecting and researching data; computer aided drafting; construction inspection; materials testing; managing traffic; and preparing reports.
About the Division
The Engineering & Construction Services Division responsibilities include planning, designing and constructing safe and efficient transportation systems for Lane County. The Division also provides high quality and comprehensive engineering and construction services to other County Departments and external public agency clients that manage, maintain, and plan public improvement programs and projects. Our mission is to provide these important services for the benefit of citizens, businesses, industries, and visitors to Lane County.
Schedule: Monday – Friday; 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a ½ hour lunch

QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience:
- Associates degree or two-year technical certificate; and sufficient experience as necessitated by the competency level of the position.
- Journey Level (N4311): 2-5 years of progressively responsible experience related to area of assignment.
- Specialized knowledge specific to area of assignment may be required.
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Health insurance coverage becomes effective the first of the month following your first 30 days as an eligible employee.
Medical/Rx/Vision – Lane County offers medical, prescription and vision exam coverage for you and your eligible dependents. The plan options and costs per month for 2018 are outlined below:
If you enroll in the HDHP the County will contribute to your HSA: $1,500 (individual) or $3,000 (family) annually. This amount is prorated based on date of hire.
