Video Intern – Fall 2023

Position Summary:

Video Interns will spend several weeks in a training program consisting of both classroom-based and on-the-job trainings. Topics include member service, MSUFCU culture and philosophies, product knowledge, computer systems, and compliance. This is a learning position which performs a variety of functions specific to the department that corresponds with the intern’s field of study. Individuals will be assigned department specific projects to complete during their time as a Video Intern. They will also have the opportunity to meet with management and leadership to learn about the corporate culture while gaining hands-on business experience.

Work Location:

This position is a hybrid role with a combination of working both onsite at the Headquarters 1 building in East Lansing and remotely. A schedule of expected onsite and remote workdays will be discussed during the interview process.

Work Location: Onsite or Hybrid; Headquarters campus in East Lansing, MIWork Schedule: Part-Time approximately 15-20 hours during MSUFCU Office Hours (8:30am-5:00pm); A schedule will be determined around the intern’s class schedule. Occasional assignments to work during evenings and weekends if urgent need.
Paid Hourly Internship: $15.00/hourDuration: Minimum of one semester, but intern is able to extend internship (part-time hours) until graduation if desired

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, shoot, and edit new and existing video content
  • Create and design graphics, special effects, and other visual images using pictures, video, etc. for use in a broad variety of marketing/Credit Union initiatives
  • Write scripts for videos (TV commercials) and radio spots
  • Select music for videos (TV commercials) and radio spots
  • Utilize Adobe Suite products such as Premier and After Effects
  • Assist in the development, research, and maintenance of video content for MSUFCU social media platforms
  • Coordinate many video-related functions to promote the credit union to the membership and new members

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • High school diploma required
  • Actively pursuing Associate or Bachelor degree in related field of study
  • High level of both creative thinking, visual storytelling, and written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with DSLR cameras, and audio and lighting equipment
  • Demonstrates empathy and a commitment to providing superior member service
  • Ability to assess member needs and offer alternatives

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • May be required to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time
  • Ability to operate standard office technology, equipment and tools, which may include many hours of computer and phone usage
  • Occasionally needs to move about inside of office area
  • Exposure to potentially hazardous condition, i.e. robbery. Receives detailed instructions and procedures to be followed to minimize the exposure
  • This position is able to work in hybrid or onsite working arrangements
