POSITION SUMMARY:
The Maintenance Mechanic position is to provide effective and consistent service of factory equipment. To consistently achieve production and cost targets on a short term (day to day) and long term (monthly/annual) basis, through effective management and upkeep of the processes, kit and systems, so as to ensure that we achieve our production targets, through the manufacture of products to the right quality and specification. Covering all aspects of food safety.
This will be achieved by ensuring that equipment is available for production, reactive maintenance is dealt with at speed, and accuracy. Developing a clear knowledge and understanding of the factory, products, and machinery
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide electronic, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic service to assigned production equipment. Skills to include welding, electronics, electricity, controls, mechanics, basic fabrication, work order reporting, downtime reporting, communication with peers, leadership, customers and equipment vendors, organization, follow-through, parts usage reporting and excellent interaction skills.
- This is a hands-on role, providing visibility and accessibility on the factory floor and not sitting in the workshop waiting for a call.
- Ensure that the machines are ready for a smooth run during production at lowest waste levels.
- Keep yourself informed of production plans and any changes. It is important to be proactive in finding out what is happening rather than waiting to be told.
- Look for issues. Do not wait to be told or instructed to complete a task
- Awareness of all machinery problems or any unfinished jobs.
- Ensure break downs are addressed quickly.
- Operate on a “one-man for one-job” policy, however, without compromising safety & training.
- Ensure your work areas are clean and organized including, the area you are working in, the workshop and the store. Always maintaining the “clean as you go” policy in all areas.
- To ensure the machines that produce products meet the customer specification, quality, and food safety.
- To be proactive in looking for areas of improvement and to adopt techniques and practices that ensure that there is a quality environment in production
- Ensure that health and safety requirements are fully met and that a positive safety culture is maintained throughout the factory
- Ensure that you walk the talk and use the looking eyes, attend to the issues as and when they happen.
- Promote the Froneri culture of treating the business as your own.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Possess good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read, write, and follow instructions and correspondences.

- Helpful Experience: TPM, RCM, PLC Programming, Sanitary Welding, Machine Shop skills, Electrical Construction, and Ammonia Refrigeration
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- HS Diploma/GED required. Associates Degree or Technical Certification in related field preferred.
- 3-5 years of food manufacturing maintenance or related maintenance experience preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is required to work in an environment that may include exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, electricity, and vibrations. PPE and training are provided to eliminate/reduce the risk of harm. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
The pay scale for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The pay scale disclosed below has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The pay scale for employees currently in this role is $28.09-$35.63 per hour depending on experience.
