Pay Range

$104,370 – 129,588 annually

Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. Many factors are taken into consideration when setting starting pay including education, experience, the external labor market, and internal equity.

Job Description

We have an opening for a Business Analyst within the National Ignition Facility and Photon Science (NIF&PS) Principal Associate Directorate. You will be responsible for analyzing, planning, executing, and leading activities pertaining to various projects within NIF&PS. This position is in the National Ignition Facility & Photon Science (NIF&PS) Principal Associate Directorate (PAD) reporting to the NIF&PS Business Manager.

In this role, you will

  • Analyze present state of business/scientific processes and workflow, develop alternative future-state approaches, and facilitate implementation of new or enhanced business solutions.
  • Develop and implement strategies for addressing process gaps, including processes that cross functions; monitor the progress and impact of changes by working as a liaison between client and technical staff.
  • Provide in-depth consultation to clients and technical staff to identify and evaluate standards and procedures to improve overall process efficiency; works cross functionality to build fully functional and controlled business processes. Responsible for end-to-end process maps.
  • Contribute to statistical models on goals, metrics, and roles involved in a functional business process.
  • Utilize Excel and VBA to create innovative applications that streamline business processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, information management, or related field or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Knowledge of and experience using the NIF&PS Planning System (NPS) and other Laboratory financial systems.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office with extensive experience in advanced Excel functions.
  • Self-motivated problem solver with excellent analytical skills and ability to solve complex problems while working under consultative direction, leading, and training others.
  • Experience leading the analysis and design of complex business processes and designing and implementing strategies for complex process improvements.
  • Experience developing and delivering formal proposals for the implementation of operational changes to improve information and processing systems.
  • Experience as a team leader implementing business solutions and knowledge of project management practices.
  • Skilled written and verbal communication skills necessary to lead multidisciplinary team members, using negotiation skills to influence all levels of staff.
  • Ability to facilitate and collaborate effectively to present and explain information to stakeholders.
