Civil Designer II

As a Civil Designer for ENGIE North America (ENA), you will work within the Distributed Solar and Storage Engineering & Delivery team and be responsible for designing and finalizing design layouts and production modeling of ground mount solar PV installations throughout the USA. You will collaborate with various departments on requests to develop, design, and optimize the projects.

This position can sit in Houston, TX or Chicago, IL. This position is open to a hybrid scheduled of both in-office and work-from-home days.

What you’ll do:

  • Originate and review ground mount and carport PV layouts
  • Maintain drafting processes and support continuous improvement of drawing standards across Engineering team
  • Support development and origination team in RFP engineering work
  • Perform site assessment and land surveying for design development; including the use of drones for data capture
  • Apply building and fire codes to designs in a wide range of jurisdictions
  • Draft project layouts and details for assigned projects as directed by team leader
  • Must be comfortable reading and interpreting technical documentation
  • Check tolerances, dimensions, and feasibility of designs and work with team to resolve conflicts

What you bring:

  • Associates Degree in technical/science field or
  • A minimum two (2) years of experience in solar PV industry
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel
  • Experience using AutoCad
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or willingness to learn
  • Contributes to companywide strategy
  • Communicates effectively (written and verbal)
  • Capable of working on multiple projects while requiring limited supervision
  • Ability to acquire FAA drone pilot license and establish proficiency in the company drone program
  • Takes ownership of projects
  • Develops leadership skills
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license
  • Travel required (up to 20%)
  • Preferred if you have:
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Experience with GIS
  • Ability to understand basic civil engineering concepts of grading and environmental layouts

  • Must be eligible to work for any U.S. employer without the need for sponsorship now or in the future
  • Ability to meet highest attendance requirements and handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to use company issued computer and travel to conduct site visits
  • Capable of using proper lifting procedures or equipment usage needed when involved in lifting up to 50 lbs

  • Salary Range: $44,455-$114,010 USD annually
  • Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
  • In addition to salary, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan
