The Commissioning Manager is responsible for creating and managing commissioning processes for ENGIE renewable energy projects. The associate will interact with their supervisor regularly.
This position is located in Oakland, CA and will report to the Field Services Director.
What you’ll do:
- Oversee the commissioning process which is delivered primarily by Construction Managers and Project Managers. Ultimately, the Project Manager is responsible for commissioning their project but the Commissioning Manager’s role is to equip, enable, guide, support, and check compliance of commissioning activities with ENGIE’s commissioning processes and requirements
- Create and maintain commissioning documentation for ENGIE Construction Managers and subcontractors to use
- Create and maintain tools used to document the commissioning processes which the Commissioning Manager establishes
- Create and document processes needed to ensure ENGIE construction projects are built to operate safely, efficiently, and needing a realistic level of preventative maintenance and a minimum amount of repairs
- Create and maintain reference design standards for ENGIE EORs or 3rd Party EORs to adhere to when designing projects. Reference design standards should take into account the safety of installation personnel, safe system operation, safety of maintenance personnel, equipment maintainability, maintenance cost, and overall equipment performance
- Locate and consolidate manufacturer installation training programs for ENGIE’s subcontractors and Construction Managers. Maintain certification records for ENGIE Construction Managers and create tools to enable ENGIE Construction Managers to test and enforce training compliance of subcontractor personnel
- Review new equipment and new technologies as they are introduced to the market. Certify new equipment for use on ENGIE projects. Coordinate with ENGIE’s Digital Monitoring team to ensure new equipment is compatible with existing data collection systems. Incorporate certified equipment into Reference Design Standards, locate manufacturer installation and maintenance training tools
- Maintain a list of certified, pending, and non-approved equipment for use on ENGIE projects
- Comply 100% with all safety requirements
- Must adhere to all required federal, state and local laws/statutes, as applicable to this role
- Other tasks as assigned by manager
What you bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering required
- A minimum of seven (7) years of experience required with a preference for those with previous experience in PV design, installation, and/or maintenance
- A State Certified Journeyman Electrician License
- Collaborative, communicative, generous with information sharing. The position must work very closely with Construction Managers, Project Managers, and subcontractor installation and oversight personnel
- Abide by and understand the safety requirements of the NEC electrical code, NFPA70 and OSHA
- Technical requirement of commissioning, electrical testing, and troubleshooting of solar electrical generation systems
Additional Information/Conditions:
- Must be available to travel up to 30% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips
- Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and clean driving record
- Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
- Ability to work outdoors and on rooftops
- Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Ability to lift 55 lbs on a regular basis
- Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to use a company computer

- Salary Range: $79,305-$202,540, annually
- Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
- In addition to salary, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan
