New York Life’s primary distribution channel is the career Agency sales force of more than 12,000 agents, operating in virtually every major city in the United States. Every agent is affiliated with one of our 115 General Offices. These offices are operated by Agency management teams responsible for agent and management recruiting, development, and sales. Approximately half our agents operate their businesses out of our General Offices, while the other half maintains independent office locations.
Our General Offices are divided up among four Zones. In addition to our Zone offices, an Agency Home Office team responsible for strategy, finance, administration, standards, training, marketing and communications supports our agents and field managers. The Agency operation also comprises teams charged with growing our business in key market segments, including the middle-income market, the advanced (high-net-worth) market, select cultural markets, and the women’s markets. Agents sell individual life insurance, individual annuities, and long-term care insurance products, as well as mutual funds.
The Business Solutions Consultant (BSC) is responsible for achieving and exceeding the assigned territory and individual General Office’s Employee Whole Life (EWL) or Employee Benefits (EB) sales objectives. BDC delivers sales concepts, product information, and provide technical guidance to New York Life Agents in an effort to drive new sales through our Employee Whole Life (EWL) or Employee Benefits (EB) products virtually. Competitive compensation includes base salary and sales incentives.
Role Overview
- Work closely with agents who are part of a captive agency sales force to develop and maintain strong business relationships.
- Develop a strong command of New York Life’s products and sales processes through Worksite planning.
- Leverage significant product knowledge of group benefits (including voluntary and supplemental) to drive acquisition and retention of business.
- Drive sales growth through capitalizing on integrated opportunities across existing New York Life clients.
- Introduce new product enhancements to field management and agents with particular emphasis on individual and business needs.
- Deliver sales presentations to both agents and clients virtually.
- Provide sales support and product information virtually in individual and large group sessions.
- Provide post-sales support once business is sold.
- Create additional sales opportunities for other product lines by leveraging New York Life’s technology to effectively position solutions in the marketplace.
- Proactively work with the General Office management.
- Increase Worksite sales in assigned territory to achieve company sales goals.
- Provide regular written reports on field activity.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Current Life and Health license required.
- Series 6 and 63 (obtain within 60 days).
- Minimum 5 years of field experience as an agent, wholesaler, recruiter and/or trainer.
- Motivated and energetic individual with the ability to drive his/her objectives relatively autonomously.
- A broad and comprehensive knowledge of the worksite market, with understanding of the sales process and the dynamics of selling employee benefits.
- Excellent communication skills are essential.
- Insurance industry designations (CLU, ChFC, CFP etc.) strongly preferred.
Salary range: $65,000- $70,000
Overtime eligible: Exempt
Discretionary bonus eligible: No
Sales bonus eligible: Yes (Target Sales Incentive $35,000)
