Overview
Internship Description:
The Sales and Service Internship gives students the opportunity to go behind the scenes to understand how to successfully sell a variety of events from concerts, conventions, family shows, athletic events, and more. Your work contributes to the lasting memories made from a child’s birthday party at a Harlem Globetrotters game, someone’s very first concert, or friends reliving the glory days at a FSU basketball game. You will collaborate and learn from a team with a proven track record of advancing careers in the industry backed by the leading venue management company, OVG.
Hours/Schedule:
Must be able to work 12 hours per week. Interns are required to work selected events and grassroots activities that occur on certain days, evenings and weekends. The internship runs from August to December.
Reports to:
Group Sales and Premium Service Manager, Director of Sales and Marketing
This role will pay an hourly wage of $12.50.

About the Venue
The Donald L. Tucker Civic Center features a 12,500 seat arena, 34 luxury suites, 476 club seats, over 54,000 sq. ft. of meeting and exhibition space and an arena view restaurant, the Spotlight Grille. The arena is home to Florida State Men’s and Women’s basketball and is known for its electric atmosphere and fierce home court advantage. Not only a music and sports venue, the arena also is frequently used for trade shows, large catered functions, receptions, religious services, and classes. Responsibilities
- Participate in developing and implementing sales and service initiatives for FSU Basketball, graduations, family shows and concerts
- Develop customer service skills by interacting with prospects and current clients over the phone, in the office and at games or other events
- Assist with brainstorming ideas for revenue generating opportunities at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center
- Help with planning and organizing of various sales and service initiatives and programs
- Attend various meetings that will be beneficial in completing tasks
- Interact with Tucker Center staff when working on various projects
- Perform variety of event day responsibilities
- Additional tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- Must be a college junior, senior or graduate student
- Recommended for Sport Management, Marketing, Communications, Management, or Hospitality Majors
- Have a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA
- Availability to work 12 hours a week, including evenings and weekends
- Active involvement in on campus civic and/or leadership activities desired
- Working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of how to effectively use the internet for research
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills in the English language
- Well organized with ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments
- Must be detail oriented
