What Your Job Will Be Like

We are seeking a highly motivated and hardworking General Maintenance Technologist with demonstrated skills and experience in the general maintenance and repair of building structures, such as roofing, doors (interior and exterior), floors, and stairs. Duties may include roofing and waterproofing work, maintenance and repair of membrane, flashing, and surfacing on a variety of in-place systems; assisting with assembling and rigging to move equipment/material; preventive maintenance on cranes, elevators, hoisting and rigging; fabricating, installing, and maintaining in good repair sheet metal equipment and fixtures such as machine guards, grease pans, shelves, lockers, tanks, ventilators, chutes, ducts, and metal roofing. We are interested in an individual with strong customer service skills, reasoning abilities, and self- determination.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Perform work in one or more maintenance trade, including carpentry, plumbing, painting, machine, and equipment repair, electrical, sheet metal fabrication, or welding
  • Conduct routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment
  • Use blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and/or specifications
  • Operate equipment including but not limited to forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts
  • Updating work logs and handling other administrative duties

Salary Range

$63,900 – $122,700

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require

  • Requires high school diploma plus five or more years of directly related experience, or equivalent combination
  • Experience performing general maintenance activities, including repair and maintenance of plant and office building structures and equipment
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance
  • Selected applicants must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a valid driver’s license during employment
  • Selected applicants will be required to take a Job Placement Assessment before beginning the job to ensure that they can perform the essential physical requirements, with or without accommodations

Qualifications We Desire

  • Strong working knowledge within Carpentry, Sheet Metal, and / or commercial door installation field
  • Experience as a licensed contractor performing residential, commercial, or light industrial work
  • Versed in building code aspects, OSHA safety requirements
  • Ability to effectively work in a team environment and interact with all levels of internal and external personnel, including the ability to build and manage effective working relationships
  • A Commercial Driver’s License with a trailer and tank endorsement. Must be able to maintain medical certification
  • Experience with reading various documentation (such as blueprint installation and fabrication drawings, schematics, specifications, and equipment manuals)

About Our Team

The Facilities Maintenance Department operates and maintains existing buildings, systems, infrastructure and utilities. This includes preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of electrical high and low voltage distribution, fire protection systems, interior and exterior lighting, plumbing, heating, ventilating, and air conditioning. We strive to accomplish these activities to meet mission requirements in an efficient, flexible, safe, and cost-effective manner.
