Idaho National Laboratory’s (INL) Transportation Services group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as a Bus Dispatcher.
Our team works an on-site 4×12 schedule located at our Sitewide facilities.
Responsibilities Include:
- Ensure all runs, routes, and driver work assignments have personnel and buses to complete daily task as described by management.
- Coordinate bus trades for maintenance and breakdown, track bus locations, assist on government vehicle accidents and breakdowns, and receive parts and coordinate shipments, as required.
- Report transportation anomalies to the Warning Communications Center (WCC) and Transportation Management, keep a log of important events of each shift, help during Site evacuation, provide data to management on runs and routes, coordinate bus and personnel on tours, and provide holiday work schedule.
- Dispatch pool cars as needed. Maintain up-to-date shared files including bus drivers’ phone number list, run book, extra board postings, and the extra work list.
- When required, act as the area warden during a building evacuation. Enter information from the Bus Manifest into the Bus Operations system.
- Monitor weather for safe operations, notify road scouts, and develop alternate routes, as required by emergencies, road closures, etc.
- Update weather hotline, web page banner, and the display monitor each day.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma/GED.
- General computer and typing skills.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Requirements:
- Current knowledge of bus operations and dispatching experience.

- Salary: $25.55/hour (Rate can vary based upon individual work location, clearances, and qualifications. Rates are accurate for current posting and subject to change. These are bargaining unit positions.)
