HDR has a need for an entry level accountant to join our high-performing Washington accounting team. For the right candidate, this position will present a great opportunity for building strong business acumen in the field of cost accounting and will provide significant growth potential. As a Project Accountant 1, you will play a critical role in HDR’s operations and develop strong relationships with our technical staff to help our teams and our clients, reach their financial goals. This person will partner directly with our Project Managers to provide contracting and accounting support for some of the most complex and regionally significant projects in the state of Washington, many of which are directly impacting the communities we live in.
Primary Responsibilities
In the role of Project Accountant 1, we’ll count on you to:
• Provide effective, efficient, and professional support services to all internal and external customer
• Serve as the centralized point of contact for accounting or contract related questions or task
• Team with Project Managers to support pricing and calculate profitability for potential project
• Perform project set up and other project initiation task
• Coordinate, track and document Prime Consultant and/or Client agreement reviews with legal department, project team and business group manager
• Take responsibility for client invoicing, collections management and project budgeting, as well as backup assistance on coding and processing A/P, time sheets, and expense report
• Review and process subconsultant invoice
• Responsible for records management for accounting and contract related documents and file
• Assist Project Managers to monitor the financial health of their projects including forecasting cost at completion estimates and planned versus actual budget analysi
• Provide detailed analysis and reporting on project financial status within HDR’s established accounting system or other developed tracking tool
• Prepare and coordinate subconsultant agreement
• Conduct accurate contract documentation, administration and maintenance including fee and budget entry
• Work with section and project personnel to provide timely contract performance data and resolve financial issue
• Coordinate the project accounting system within the department and work with technical staff to ensure compliance with contractual requirement
• Perform other, as needed, accounting and contracting administration support
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
• Associate degree in a closely related field or combination of education and relevant experience
• Familiarity with Earned Value Management
• Excellent verbal and written communication including grammar, punctuation, proofreading, spelling and telephone skill
• Flexibility and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and collaborate with various managers in a fast-paced environment
• Self-motivated, well-organized and detail-oriented
• Ability to handle confidential information
• Proficiency with MS Office including Word and Outlook
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration

The expected compensation range for this position is $26.51 – $37.87 hourly depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.)
