POSITION DESCRIPTION
Under the general direction of the Assistant Parks, Recreation and Aquatics Director, assist in the development, planning, organizing, implementation and supervision of facility rentals, recreation programs, and special events at the Community Center, Dacca Barn, and park facilities.
The anticipated schedule for this position is Wednesday through Saturday and hours will be approximately 29 hours/per week, start and end times may depend on rental demand. During peak rental season or to help with staff coverage, this position may work up to 35-40 hours/week on an intermittent basis. Evenings and weekends may be required depending on facility rental demand.
This position reports directly to the Events & Marketing Specialists.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Facilitate and assist with facility rentals, including setup and takedown of tables, chairs and equipment and marketing facilities to potential renters.
- Supervise rentals, activities, events, programs and assist in overseeing part-time staff at the Community Center, Dacca Barn and park facilities as assigned.
- Assist with supervision and training of, seasonal staff and program participants.
- Attend and assist in all staff meetings as required.
- Communicate feedback between renters, participants, and the public with the Events and Marketing Specialists.
- Perform cashier and front desk reception responsibilities.
- Answer public questions regarding programs and facilities.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable City, County and State laws and City ordinances, policies and procedures at all times.
- Perform minor maintenance / custodial duties.
- Perform facility opening and closing responsibilities.
- Utilize REC1 software system to process program registrations, “point-of-sale” transactions, and update client/patron accounts.
- Develop and facilitate activities each month to help increase facility rental revenue.
- Assist in the interviewing and hiring of seasonal staff.
- Assist with conducting staff meetings and supervising.
- Develop and maintain a positive and supportive staff team.
- Oversee facility rentals.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & OTHER REQUIREMENTS
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess strong customer service skills.
- Possession and maintenance of current certifications in CPR, First Aid and AED or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment.
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to maintain an acceptable driving record per city guidelines.
- Basic computer skills including working with Microsoft Office Suite and basic data entry software.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bilingual ability strongly desired.
- Venue rental experience.
- Familiarity with local community organizations and resources.

- Safely operate city vehicles, including a 15-passenger van, as needed.
UNION EMPLOYEE BENEFITS SUMMARY
The City of Fife provides excellent medical, dental and vision plans for the whole family; 14 paid holidays, paid leave that increases with years of service; and participation in the Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS) and LEOFF plan for eligible employees.
Medical Coverage: The City offers Regence or Kaiser High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) Medical coverage with low employee cost share and contributes to a Health Savings Account (HSA) or VEBA for eligible employees and their families. Contributions are pro-rated for employees starting after the first of the year. The City also funds a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) for medical expenses incurred after meeting the plan deductible. Dental Coverage: Delta Dental with Orthodontia rider or Willamette Dental insurance is provided for eligible employees and their families. Teamsters employees are covered under the Washington Teamsters Welfare Trust dental plan.
Vision Coverage: VSP with second-pair rider is provided for eligible employees and their eligible dependents. Teamsters employees are covered under the UEBT vision plan.
Paid Leave: City employees are entitled to receive paid holidays, sick leave banks, vacation leave and personal holidays depending on the appointment type. Regular full time employees earn 8 hours of sick leave each month and earn vacation leave starting at 12 day per year in the first year of service and increases with additional years of service. Life Insurance Plans: The City provides basic life insurance of $20,000 at no cost for eligible employees. Employees can add additional amounts of life insurance as desired. The City also provides long-term and short-term disability plans for all eligible employees.
Deferred Compensation 457(b): Income can be set aside on a pretax basis and invested for supplementation of normal retirement income. For commission police officer positions, if the employee opts into Deferred Compensation contributions, the City will match specified amounts on a monthly contribution per the collective bargaining agreement. All employees can pick from MissionSquare (ICMA) or Empower (Edward Jones).
Retirement: All employees of the City, except members of the Police are included in the Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS). Police Officers are included in the DRS LEOFF2 plan. For more information about DRS including current rates visit: drs.wa.gov
Direct Deposit: Employees are paid on a semi-monthly schedule (10th and 25th of the month) by direct deposit.
Salary Increases: Based on satisfactory performance and time in position, the City provides for a regular progression of salary increases for most classification according to the salary schedule detailed in the collective bargaining agreements.
Longevity Pay: Employees are eligible to receive longevity pay in recognition of longevity with the City. Amounts are specific to each employee group and can be found in our collective bargaining agreements.
