The Senior Director I, Business Development will be a single threaded leader responsible for the acquisition of large and strategic eCommerce Marketplace Sellers and Brands for the Walmart Marketplace . The s cope includes setting the seller a cquisition strategy , the plan and the execution , leading a U S based large business development team, representing Walmart Marketplace at key retail industry events , leading partnership conversations with C-Level executives at top Seller and Brands , embodying the new to the platform Seller and Brand across Walmart eCommerce , and setting the long term acquisition goals and plans for the next 5 years. In addition, this leader must be highly effective in collaborating with various Marketplace and eCommerce stakeholders including the Marketplace Category leads, 1P Omni-merchants, international business development teams, sales operations, sales enablement, trust and safety, channel partnership, incubation and onboarding teams, seller digital marketing and Walmart Fulfillment Services. In addition, this posit ion will be a key stakeholder in the development of new seller programs aimed at onboarding, incubation and delivering GMV growth for new sellers in the first 90 days to 12 months. This role will leverage industry best practices and standards to acquire the largest sellers and ensure contracts and deals are structured in mutually beneficial ways to drive profits, quality and supply of new assortment.
Responsibilities
- Seller and Brand acquisition growth and execution : Leads the acquisition strategy and the execution plan to ensure high quality US sellers and brands join the marketplace and bring over th eir strategic and in-demand assortment. Accountable for the seller and brand number of acquisitions and the GMV these generate on a yearly basis.
- Team leadership : Leads a large US based category specific business development team. Build s the reporting leadership team , sets performance standards, ensures accountability, sales process rigor and operational excellence. Brings a relentless drive to generate results and takes the right decision s as it relate s to the business, the leadership team and associates in order t o drive a high performance, results oriented BD sales organization.
- New Seller & brand key stakeholder: embodies the new seller and brands that join the marketplaces. Represents across multiple stakeholders the opportunities and the needs of new sellers to succeed in the platform and to attain the GMV expectations of both the Sellers and the Marketplace business.
- Lead top seller and brand partnerships: Leads by example the acquisition of a few but highly strategic brands and sellers requiring senior leadership relationships and Walmart marketplace executive involvement. These are the industry’s largest eCommerce Marketplace sellers.

The annual salary range for this position is $128,000.00-$250,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.
Additional compensation for certain positions may also include:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Statistics, Social Science, Communications, or related field and 6 years’ experience in retail merchandising, operations management, or related area OR 8 years’ experience in retail merchandising, operations management, or related area.
