THE POSITION
Under the direction of the Director of Network & Computer Services, manages Help Desk/Trainer operations, student information systems operations, the District’s data submission to CALPADS (California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System) and associated programs and databases; plans, coordinates, implements and oversees the daily operations and maintenance of the District’s computerized information system and help desk services; provides support and maintenance for end users; consults with and provides technical assistance to schools and departments regarding student data and systems support needs; trains, supervises and evaluates the performance of assigned staff.
CURRENT OPENING: One 12-month/40 hours per week position. Salary placement will be on Range 46 of the SEIU Salary Schedule “S.” Initial salary placement for new employees is customarily at step 1 ($42.51 per hour) of this salary range.

Essential Duties
The classification specification does not describe all duties performed by all incumbents within the class. This summary provides examples of typical tasks performed in this classification.
- Performs and delegates related student information systems activities including new student enrollment, data confirmation, master scheduling, new year rollover, grading, report cards and transcripts, new year initialization, course requests, and parent and student portal support.
- Performs and delegates student information data integrity, maintenance and cleanliness activities, such as but not limited to incorrect data entered by users, missing data, updating data.
- Performs and delegates audits, and certifies and publishes student and staff information to CALPADS and other local, regional, state, and federal agencies.
- Maintains annual calendar of key processes and deadlines for student information systems and related data systems, including CALPADS.
- Coordinates with department staff, users and vendors to ensure data system integration between student information systems and District systems such as but not limited to special education, library, food services, business systems, learning management systems, curriculum publisher systems, assessment and analytics systems, county student systems for foster youth and homeless survey systems.
- Manages user accounts for District systems, including the creation, maintenance, configuration, security permissions, and user/organizational groups.
- Provides training to users of the student information systems and other District systems via classroom environment, one on one, computer, and by telephone.
- Represents the District with CALPADS activities including attending trainings, providing documentation and trainings, consulting with other districts and researching county office of education resources.
- Assists other department staff in developing applications documentation, training, and identifying and resolving problems.
- Provides user technology support including training and documentation, handling of inquiries, and making referrals to specialists, delegation to staff, and coordination with other staff when appropriate.
- Oversees, plans and coordinates the District CALPADS system and other state and federal electronic reporting systems and reports to ensure compliance, support of LCAP and LCFF data needs.
- Supervises assigned staff in report requests, development and submission of CALPADS data, review of data and data corrections, records transfer, and other state and federal electronic reporting systems for the purpose of meeting local, state, and federal timelines and data requirements.
- Plans, organizes, and promotes teamwork between student information systems, CALPADS support personnel, and schools and departments to ensure CALPADS reporting deadlines are met.
- Oversees testing, procedures, schedules, systems controls and analysis of student systems to ensure quality control of state and federal reporting data.
- Communicates regularly with supervisor and District administration regarding CALPADS timelines and requirements.
- Adheres to and assists in enforcing technology policies, rules, and regulations by reporting violations to appropriate officials and/or administrators.
- Trains, supervises, and evaluates the performance of assigned staff.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Employees in this classification work primarily indoors, with exposure to contagious illnesses, in direct contact with the public and other District staff, in the absence of direct supervision, with a high volume of work and tight deadlines, continuous interruptions, and with continuously changing priorities.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate Degree or higher, preferably in a related field. Some coursework in data processing, computer science, management information systems, technology, business, or a related field is required.
Experience:
Three years of experience in information services and technology or assessment with data analysis in a network environment. Two years of supervisory or lead experience is required. Experience in a school district is desirable.
Special:
- Possession of a valid California Class C Driver’s License.
- Evidence of adequate insurance for a motor vehicle, which meets or exceeds the California legal liability insurance requirement and continues to maintain insurability.
- Use of an automobile.

General Information

Paid Holidays
Up to 16 holidays per year depending on months worked for all classified employees.
Paid Vacation
Vacation is prorated for all classified employees, based on the hours and months worked per year. Below is the vacation schedule for classified supervisors and classified staff.
Classified Employee Vacation Chart
1-5 years of service
- One day of vacation will be earned per month worked.
6-10 years of service
- One and one-quarter (1 ¼) days of vacation will be earned per month worked.
11-15 years of service
- One and one-half (1 ½) days of vacation will be earned per month worked.
16-20 years of service
- One and three-fourths (1 ¾) days of vacation will be earned per month worked.
21 + years of service
- Two (2) days of vacation will be earned per month worked.
Health Benefits
For positions 35 hours or more per week the District contributes $11,900 (subject to change) toward annual premium for medical, dental, vision and life insurance coverage. Partially paid benefits are available for part-time (20-34) hour employees. The District participates in the Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS). Lifetime retirement benefits provided for eligible retirees.

Paid Sick Leave
Every regular classified employee, probationary or permanent, can earn paid sick leave credit(s) based on one day for each month in which such employees are in a paid status with the District. Earned, but unused sick leave can accumulate without limit. Full-time classified employees (those who work 8 hours per day, 5 days per week and 12 months per year) will normally earn twelve (12) days of sick leave credit(s) during each fiscal year.
