Meet the team:
Dexcom’s R&D Data Platform is building our Site Reliability Engineering capability. We are seeking experienced and skilled individuals to help build the SRE team in supporting a variety of cloud-based services for our Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) product ecosystem. This is a greenfield program where the engineers get to build the practice with shared vision between leadership and their own ideas.
Team members must have a solid foundation in Agile practices, DevOps, Programing, Cloud, Reliability Architypes and Architecture, Observability, and Automation/Orchestration. We are looking for engineers who are self-starters, self-directed and be familiar with working in a high paced and regulated environment.
Where you come in:
You will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining and defining practice and process that keeps our products and services running smoothly. As SRE you will work closely with development, Cloud Engineering and Security teams to identify and address performance issues, optimize system performance, and ensure high availability and reliability of our systems.
- Implement best practices to ensure and improve high availability, reliability, and recoverability of our platforms.
- Design, build or drive others to implement proprietary tools to mitigate weaknesses in incident management or software delivery.
- Incorporate various software engineering practices to develop and implement services that improve our ability to support the platform.
- Design, automate, and implement disaster recovery and business continuity processes.
- Participate in service/system design, platform management, and capacity planning.
- Collaborate with engineering teams and/or product owners for the formulation of SLO and SLI frameworks that meet the reliability[JR1] needs of our growing services and software.
- Develop and drive adoption of cloud observability systems (e.g., DataDog, Splunk, OpenTelemetry, APM, etc.)
- Build flexible monitoring and alerting to proactively address issues before they become incidents.
- Identify and address performance issues and optimize system performance.
- Partner with development and test teams to establish application production readiness through rigorous testing and release procedures.
- Participate in on-call rotations and incident response. Document system architecture, processes, and procedures.
- Develop and implement rigorous training program both within and across engineering teams.
- Act as a champion to drive a culture of uptime, automation, resilient applications, and ephemeral environments.
What makes you successful:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- 5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering or related field
- Strong proficiency in at one or more programming language (Go, Java, Python, TypeScript, or shell scripting)
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Datadog, Splunk, ELK
- Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, with preference for GCP.
- Strong understanding of Linux and Windows operating systems and networking fundamentals
- Strong understanding of distributed data streaming technologies such as Kafka.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration systems such as Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, or Helm
- Expert troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Expert understanding of Networking in cloud.
- Expert understanding of DevOps principles and practices
- Expert with distributed systems and microservices architecture
- Expert with working with git and version control UIs (GitHub and Gitlab).
- Expert with issue tracking tools, such as Jira.

Experience and Education
- Typically requires a Bachelors degree in a technical discipline, and a minimum of 13+ years related experience or a Masters degree and 8+ years equivalent industry experience of a PhD and 5+ years of experience.
Exempt Salary Details
- The annual base salary range for this role is $141,800 to $236,400. Final compensation package will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, business needs and market demand.
