Position Overview
This position is located in the Care Center of the Adult Services Section.

Examples of Duties
To provide supervision of the daily operation of the emergency domestic violence shelter. This position provides services to women and their children to enable them to recover from the effects of domestic violence by making them feel safe. Must be able to relate to customers in a non-judgmental manner and make appropriate referrals for victims when needed.
Worker arranges transportation with school officials to ensure that children residing at the shelter attend school daily. Employee may occasionally transport victims to appointments or community resources. Employee arranges for police escorts for victims when necessary.
Worker staff’s cases with assigned Care Center counselors related to the resident’s activities at the shelter. Worker is responsible for sharing, with counselors and social work supervisor, realistic observations of the victim and their children in order to help them obtain needed services. Worker encourages victims to keep appointments and follow plans developed with the counselor. Employee conducts shelter exit interviews with victims. Worker plans menus and purchases and accounts for needed food and supplies. Worker ensures that all equipment and house maintenance is in satisfactory condition by arranging for repairs when needed. Worker is responsible for the record keeping of all services rendered to customers at the shelter.
Work answers the domestic violence crisis phone, when necessary, and documents as required. Worker is responsible for maintaining a file of information and referral sources for area community resources. The responsibilities include compiling statistics and reports from case file data.
The work schedule is normally 40 hours per week Mon-Fri., 8:00 a.m. -5:00 p.m. However, occasional weekend or evening hours are required, primarily to cover staff vacation or sick days.
Worker supervises two shelter aides that work after hours to manage the shelter, answer hotline calls, and complete initial paperwork when women enter the shelter. Worker establishes schedules for shelter staff, distributes tasks and evaluates their performances. Worker is expected to work occasional nights, weekends and/or holidays to cover for staff vacations, illnesses and vacancies.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Degree from a two-year technical school or community college associate program designed to prepare support personnel for human services agencies and two years of experience in providing direct services to this type population where extensive coordination and liaison with community resources are required; or graduation from high school or equivalent and four years of the above experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Considerable knowledge of community resources for population served; of social, economic, and environmental conditions of population served; of various supportive services training including household management skills, housing and job resources development and group training techniques. Skill in reading, writing, and arithmetic computations; in appraising needs and exercising good judgment in decision-making; in establishing rapport with clients and a variety of service delivery disciplines and community leaders; in communicating effectively in oral and written form; ability to supervise.

MILEAGE $0.54 reimbursement per mile driven using personal automobile for company business.
