About Us:The City of Glendale’s Communications Department includes an Emmy-award-winning media team that shoots and produces an array of content that is posted on our various platforms, including our web page, social media, and our very own Glendale 11 TV station. This talented team serves the City and our citizens, by directing live broadcasts such as our City Council meetings, as well as keeping the public informed on all the happenings in Glendale.
The Role:The Videographer/Editor is responsible for shooting, editing and producing an array of video content as well as directing live broadcasts. This individual will use their talents to create content for internal and external communications, including the city’s website, social media platforms, and Glendale 11 TV Station.
The ideal candidate for this role will be an experienced professional who can shoot and edit their own video. Additionally, this candidate will have the opportunity to let their photojournalist talents flourish, while helping tell the stories of Glendale’s vibrant and growing community. They will also be a key part of assisting with our exciting productions.
Salary:
This position is a Grade 317 with an annual salary between $60,103.16 – $90,155.00.

Regular status position’s offer:
- The City of Glendale observes 10.5 holidays per year, and full-time employees are also granted an additional 16 hours of holiday special leave per calendar year to celebrate their cultural or religious holidays.
- Vacation leave accrues at 5.33 hours per pay period (138 hours per year), and increases to 6.12 hours after 5 years, and to 7.6 hours after 10 years of service.
- Sick leave accrues at 4.4 hours per pay period (114 hours per year).
Retirement:This position participates in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).
Contribution is mandatory, and the current contribution rate is 12.29%.
Essential Functions
- Creates engaging content for internal and external communications.
- Directs and produces quality short or long-form stories, for distribution on the City’s website, social media digital platforms, and the Glendale 11 TV station.
- Edits video for various projects and stories.
- Directs live broadcasts such as City Council meetings, planning meetings, and other broadcast engagements.
- Submits ideas for stories, and participates in the Media Team’s creative process.
- Assists the media production specialist team with their productions as needed.
- Works with the city’s broadcast engineer to ensure successful operations of the Glendale Media Center.
- Coordinates the setup/breakdown of video and lighting systems for studio or remote broadcast productions.
Minimum Qualifications/Special Requirements/Success Factors
Minimum Qualifications:
Five years’ experience in all aspects of video production and a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Broadcasting, Reporting, Photojournalism or related field.

Knowledge of:
Current industry trends, quality standards and best practices
Must have strong writing, producing, shooting and interviewing skills
Principles of digital camera, audio and lighting system operations
Ability to:
Operate city vehicles
Write concise and engaging copy
Work either individually or as part of a team with the goal of creating either short video stories or a longer video show
Keep current with the way people want to receive their information
Ability to also edit stories is highly desirable
Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, is qualifying.
Special Requirements:
- Valid Arizona driver’s license.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Physical Requirements:
- Daily lifting and carrying of heavy equipment of up to 50 pounds.
- Awkward positions are occasionally maintained when operating equipment.
- Must be able to enter, exit, and operate city vehicles.
