Pay Range

$72,480 – $89,976 Annually for the Q01.1 level

$86,910 – $107,916 Annually for the Q01.2 level

Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. Many factors are taken into consideration when setting starting pay including education, experience, the external labor market, and internal equity.

Job Description

We have multiple openings for a Project Controls Analyst who will assist in the implementation and maintenance of cost, schedule, and earned value data, including data analysis and preparation of routine and specialized reports. These positions primarily support the Weapons and Complex Integration (WCI) Directorate projects and programs in the Nuclear Security Engineering Division (NSED) within the Engineering Directorate.

These positions will be filled at either level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.

You will

  • Coordinate with project teams to define activities, activity durations, resource requirements, and time-phased logic to complete project scope.
  • Interface with designated management and client counterparts for specific planning and schedule tasks/cost/earned value presentations including participating in project meetings, collecting progress data, coordinating the development of monthly forecast budgets, and revising project plans.
  • Assist in the preparation, analysis, review, and documentation of program performance measurement and cost variances according to established process, procedures, and monthly business rhythm.
  • Prepare and ensure the accuracy of the program reporting deliverables, including performance data supporting sponsor reporting requirements.
  • Assist in preparation of complex monthly project performance analysis, costs, schedule status reports, and any additional project documentation as required through all phases of project lifecycle.
  • Assist with development of project milestone tracking, and identify, track and report on critical schedule activities.
  • Assist in preparing graphic presentations and information regarding estimating, cost, schedule, and earned value data for meetings and reporting.
  • Assist with continuous improvement of processes and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional job responsibilities, at the Q01.2 level

  • Develop, analyze, prepare, and present detailed cost, schedule and earned value data.
  • Monitor and prepare cost and schedule variance analysis; develop Estimates to Complete (ETC), Estimates at Completion (EAC) and Actual Cost (AC) analysis.
  • Prepare and review basic monthly and ad hoc reports for multiple projects; pull information from various sources into presentations or other communications.

Qualifications

  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant functional discipline or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office tools including spreadsheet and presentation software, preferably Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to pull information from various sources into a presentation and experience working effectively on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to follow established practices and procedures with interaction with supervisor or more senior level personnel on new tasks and assignments, and ability to make decisions within area of responsibility in accordance with established work processes and procedures.
  • Verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain highly productive working relationships with a broad cross-section of management, technical, scientific, and administrative personnel.

Additional qualifications at the Q01.2 level

  • Intermediate knowledge and experience using Primavera P6 or MS Project.
  • Experience with project controls functions, including developing cost and schedule baselines, cost, and schedule analysis (critical path analysis).
  • Experience identifying, analyzing, and solving problems and performing statistical analyses.

Qualifications We Desire

  • Basic knowledge of project controls functions, including cost control and cost analysis, and planning and scheduling functions, including schedule development, control, and analysis.
  • Attainment of Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

Security Clearance

This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.
