Job Summary
We are looking for a Senior Animal Care Technician to join our Charles River Accelerator & Development Labs team in Philadelphia, PA.

What you will do!
In the Senior Animal Care Technician role, you are responsible for ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare are met in accordance with local, state, federal, and institutional guidelines and regulations. Your tasks include conducting daily health checks, providing food and water, and cleaning cages. You will document any animal health concerns following established protocols. Additionally, you will train employees in veterinary case reporting, operational procedures, and fundamental technical skills such as dosing and tissue/blood collection.
As the Senior Animal Care Technician, you will conduct thorough Quality in Animal (QIA) inspections. Your assessments will evaluate established standards for animal health, facility conditions, sanitation, environmental parameters, and security are met or exceeded within animal holding areas and support facilities. Additionally, you will address operational and facility-related matters, and play a part in personnel management tasks, including scheduling, training, and development. Your exemplary approach to time management, communication, and resource utilization will serve as a model for your colleagues.
Job Qualifications
A candidate that possesses a high school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in animal or life sciences field and experience as a team or work lead preferred. A minimum of two (2) years directly related laboratory animal experience in a laboratory animal facility required. AALAS certification is a plus. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above. The pay range for this position is $25-27 USD per hour. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
