Description

Cary Tennis Park is seeking highly skilled tennis players to join our team as Tennis Professional Is! This role will assist other tennis professionals and full-time tennis staff in routine management of programs including camp, clinics, tournaments and special events. Ideal candidates will be comfortable teaching beginner, intermediate, and advanced players, both juniors and adults, and will build a private lesson clientele.

Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Tennis Program Specialist. Work requires public contact.

This is a year-round, temporary, part-time, non-benefited position, up to 20 hours a week, with a maximum of 999 hours per year.

Typical Tasks

  • Assists senior tennis professionals and full-time tennis staff as required;
  • Leads or assists other tennis professionals and full-time tennis staff with camp and clinic instruction;
  • Encourages and promotes utilization of the Cary Tennis Park;
  • Manages program and participant evaluations;
  • Assists in tournaments and special events;
  • May teach private lessons;
  • Develops private lesson clientele;
  • Performs other job-related tasks as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Comprehensive knowledge of tennis skills, rules and strategies; knowledge of modern principles and practices of recreation and physical education; knowledge of business administration and practices in planning and researching programs, clinics and tournaments; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Town and community officials, employees, media personnel, volunteer groups and the public; ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing; ability to prepare and maintain records; ability to resolve disputes with fairness and impartially.

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications

Requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma/GED.

Requires a minimum of three years tennis teaching experience; experience teaching beginners and intermediate juniors is preferred.

Requires tennis playing experience at a minimum of high school varsity level; four years of college level tennis playing experience is preferred.

Prefers USPTA or USPTR certification.

Prefers USTA rating of 4.0 or higher.

Conditions of Employment
