Overview
The Senior Storekeeper oversees, monitors, and provides lead level experience in the receipt, storage, and issuance of supplies, materials, equipment, tools, parts, and merchandise for the City and its departments. Participates in policy and procedural development.

Essential Functions

  • Receives, organizes, stores, and delivers materials and supplies ordered through various sources and for various departments; ensures the daily operation and maintenance of supply or store room, warehouse, or storage yard.
  • Reviews, evaluates, and checks all submitted purchase orders and master agreements; maintains effective relationships with departments to ensure the swift and effective purchasing and delivery of required materials and equipment; meets deadlines and manages work assignments.
  • Delivers and picks up supplies, materials and reports from various locations to expedite the procurement and disbursement of essential items; ensures all appropriate documentation is complete for the transfer of equipment and the filling of orders and requests.
  • Maintains and checks inventory to ensure that all equipment is in working order; conducts daily inspections to ensure services and warehouse operations are in compliance with all regulations; attends meetings and training classes to remain up to date on all procedures, environmental policies, and safety procedures.
  • Operates various equipment to move or transport supplies and materials to other yards, vendors, workstations, or supply rooms.
  • Stocks and stores supplies, materials and equipment in designated areas for efficient retrieval and maintains storage spaces and warehouse areas; inventories materials and supplies to ensure proper stock levels and quantities are maintained.
  • Plans, schedules, and coordinates storekeeper activities to ensure all work is done in an accurate and effective manner.
  • Prepares parts for return to manufacturer, receives salvaged or repaired parts into stock, affixes identification labels to parts, performs physical inventory, and processes all discrepancies.
  • Enters all inventory and supply data into inventory tracking system; keeps accurate records on all purchases, deliveries, and general fixed asset inventory; processes invoices for payment, ensures receipt of payment, and delivers confirmations as needed.
  • Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience

  • 3 years minimum experience in warehousing and inventory management.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid Class C driver’s license with a Forklift endorsement.

Education

  • High School Diploma, GED

  • Knowledge of purchasing, quality controls, and inventory management.
  • Knowledge of supply room methods and practices.
  • Ability to keep supply room records and process invoices.
  • Ability to do heavy lifting and carrying.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English; do simple math and to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate with peers, vendors, and contractors; conflict resolution.
  • Ability to create and use record keeping systems (alpha., numerical, or chronological)
  • Ability to use technically oriented parts catalogs and reference manuals.
  • Complex knowledge of parts and tools used in automotive repair.
  • Ability to organize, plan, delegate, and monitor work assignments.
  • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
