Drafter IRES – SSFB

Description of Duties:

The Drafter supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will:
• Become familiar with engineering design with a desire to work towards a designer position.
• Coordinate with multiple design engineers to complete a final design package that incorporates architectural, electrical, fire and mechanical systems.
• Independently prepare the layout of Architectural, Mechanical and/or Electrical building infrastructure systems using Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) software.
• Document and coordinate implementation of building Architectural, Mechanical and/or Electrical system upgrades, repairs, and remodeling projects.
• Provide mechanical design support for infrastructure HVAC & plumbing systems.
• Provide electrical design support for infrastructure electrical systems.
• Be expected to develop an understanding of, and support project engineers, in compliance with engineering codes and principles, relevant specifications, and customer requirements.
• Work closely with the Facility Design Engineers to create drawing changes for maintenance, repair and alterations.
• Conduct required site surveys to confirm that existing baseline drawings are accurate and to make appropriate changes if needed.
• Capture as-built data and apply design changes to baseline files, specifications and drawing releases related to Facilities projects.
• Design changes that occur during implementation that will be closely tracked to ensure the final baseline drawings incorporate the changes.
• Assist during project closeout, the Drafter/Planner will work closely with the Quality Assurance, Power Panel and Configuration Management team members to ensure all action regarding drawings and power panel schedules are completed within the project’s period of performance timelines.
• Evaluate and prepare drawing releases related to Facilities projects

The successful candidate will:
• Have a background as a drafter.
• Have a solid understanding of architectural, mechanical and/or electrical building infrastructure systems, and will have independent experience drafting and supporting design of these types of systems.

This position can be filled at Schriever SFB, Colorado Springs, CO.

This position is expected to pay $44,500 – $69,500 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.

Basic Requirements:

Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience: HS Diploma (or GED) and 16 years of general experience; Associate’s degree and 14 years of general experience; Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of general experience; Master’s degree and 10 years of general experience
• Must have 8 years of directly related drafting experience
• Must have 3 years of documented leadership or management experience.
• Must be proficient with computer aided drafting application.
• Must have experience in drafting of building infrastructure systems.
• Must be familiar with drafting standards.
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Programs.
• Must be proficient in reading and understanding blue prints.
• Must be able to climb ladders.
• Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
• Must be able to work below raised floors.
• Must have, or obtain, an active DoD Secret Security Clearance

Desired Requirements:
• Have knowledge of Bentley MicroStation software.
• Have knowledge of Autodesk REVIT and AutoCAD software
