Zoo Maintenance Worker
Pay Range Hourly – $21.82 – $24.92
Department: Milwaukee County Zoo
Closing Date: October 18,2023 @ 10.59 pm or upon receiving 50 applications.
Job Summary: To perform a variety of semi-skilled tasks in the care and maintenance of building, grounds and facilities.
Job Responsibilities:
- Repair and Maintenance – To repair and maintain Zoo structures, equipment, enclosures, to change lights, belts, and filters, to clean, grease, and lubricate, repair walls, doors, locks, windows, and screens, to do minor electrical and plumbing repairs, to monitor HVAC equipment, to maintain records.
- Fabrication – To fabricate, design and build crates, cages, fencing. To alter the function of equipment, to construct shelving, carts, furniture, props, and much more.
- Other – To assist with animal moves, to assist skilled trades, and other jobs and duties that maybe assigned.
- Computer tasks/Work orders – To send out and check Emails, work orders, and using our LMS for trainings.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current resident of Wisconsin.
- Possession of a Wisconsin Driver’s License Class D or higher required at the time of hire and maintained through incumbency.
- Possession of a High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required. Training in the building trades preferred.
- At least one (1) year of work experience in the building trades or as a maintenance worker required.
