MWR Recreation Assistant

Summary

This position is located at Naval Weapons Stations Seal Beach in the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department, Naval Region Southwest. The primary purpose of this position is to assist in the management and operations of the RV Park Division that contains on-site responsibilities of the RV Park, Bunker 33 Recreation Center, Information Ticket and Tours Office, Recreation Vehicle Storage and Barney’s Beach House Program.

Duties

  • Takes reservations for RV Park, Recreation Center, RV Storage and Barney’s Beach House by mail or telephone. Maintains registration logs for current and future occupancies and assigns spaces. Is required to measure linear size of RV. Confirms reservations and files for future use.
  • Checks guests in and out campsites, prepares and submits contracts for supervisor approval where applicable. Ensures monies are appropriately deposited according to standard procedures.
  • Enforces rules and regulations. Explains regulations and attempts to settle disputes between groups or individuals regarding use of facilities or rules. Informs supervisor of setback, refers unusual problems or situation to supervisor. Ensures patrons observe all fire, security, sanitation and safety rules and regulations.
  • Responsible for sale and accountability of military discounted tickets and resale items sold through the ITT program. Assists in the training of the ITT Recreation Aid(s). Conducts monthly inventory, as required. Reports loss and acts in the capacity of the ITT Recreation Aid when absent.
  • Opens and closes facilities in accordance with established procedures, as required. Maintains security of building and equipment. Reports any damage, loss or vandalism of facility to proper authorities and supervisor. Inspects facility for any repair or unsafe conditions. Reports all incidents and unsafe conditions to supervisor.
  • Performs general housekeeping tasks to ensure proper standards of appearance, cleanliness and safety of assigned spaces.
  • Incumbent will exercise tact, good manners and courtesy when serving and assisting patrons. This will be expressed by tactfully responding to patron inquiries and assisting in a prompt and friendly manner.
  • Assists supervisor in the formulation and execution of the APF/NAF budget.
  • Prepares purchase documents and expenditure logs for submittal to supervisor.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment

  • Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background Investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
  • Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate preferred.
  • Knowledge of reservations.
  • Ability to maintain reports and records.
  • Cash handling experience required.
  • Ability to take an inventory.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Computer knowledge preferred.
