The Tasting Room Manager supporting Denner Vineyards oversees the organization’s overall direction, goals and Visitor Center activities for the tasting room Operations in compliance with established policies and procedures. Applies skills in direct shipping, consumer direct communications, sales metrics and motivation, merchandizing and financial systems and controls.
Compensation
- Hiring Salary Range Posted: $79,100 – $118,700
- In addition to the salary, this position is eligible to participate in tasting room tip pools, bonuses and incentive plans, as applicable.
- Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.

What You Will Do:
- Supports Senior Tasting Room Manager with the development of innovative Guest Experiences that support the brand essence.
- Oversees group tastings, tours, small events and guest experiences at the winery
- Plans and communicates daily “run of show” schedule for team, ensuring all hourly staff members have adequate coverage for meal and rest breaks.
- Strategize and lead staff education and training
- Provides performance feedback to team members in a timely manner
- Implements success vision/ strategy consistent with brand equities to achieve Experience objectives.
- Develops strategic initiatives to increase wine sales, conversion to club membership and guest engagement at higher tier/luxury experiences.
- Ensures execution of strategic initiatives to increase wine sales, conversion to club membership and guest engagement at higher tier/ lux experiences
- Cultivate relationships with local concierge, industry partners
- Manages and communicates the proper intake process for all wine club acquisitions to Tasting Room staff; ensures all staff members are compliant with the proper handling of customer information.
- Follows HR’s guidelines on tracking employee acknowledgement for all staff training, including ad-hoc staff education, new hire training and policy / process updates
- Oversees Consumer Experience programs for the Tasting Room, ensuring the experience is “best industry” for each guest.
- Manages workflow for all Visitor Center activities and events.
- Participates in department and interdepartmental planning and management teams and works crossfunctionally to improve processes within the organization.
- Leads and drives projects that have short to long term focus.
- Develops, maintains and assures adherence to operating budget.
- Partners with Event Assistant to execute winery events per direction of Consumer Event Sales Specialist.
- Partners with Member Sales & Services team to identify ways to drive wine club acquisition and overall Tasting Room visitor traffic.
- Oversees the purchasing and merchandising of profitable soft goods, consistent with brand essence.

What You Will Need:
- Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of hospitality, brand marketing, Retail sales, public relations or trade marketing experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years of Gallo experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR 9 years of brand marketing, hospitality, retail sales, or trade marketing experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
- Customer service experience.
- Supervisor/Managerial experience.
- Experience with maintaining a professional demeanor that positively reflects on the Company.
- High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate.
- Required to work nights and weekends as necessary.
- Required to be legal drinking age (21 years of age or older).
- Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
- Required be 18 years or older. This may be in addition to other age requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
- Required to lift and move cases of product that weighs up to 50 pounds.
What Will Set You Apart:
- Bachelor’s degree plus 9 years of hospitality or winery retail sales experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
- Experience working directly for a winery or in luxury hospitality.
- Gallo DtC/Experience or Marketing experience.
- Strong interest and passion for developing expertise in wine and food.
- Experience in managing a budget and labor.
- Experience effectively presenting information to top management, public groups, or boards of directors.
