Senior Associate, Database Application Analyst (Remote Role)

Responsibilities

Corporate Finance is looking for an Oracle Database Application Analyst with a minimum of 2 years of experience. The Financial Systems database team provides the data warehouse for life insurance financial and valuation reporting in support of New York Life’s Actuarial department.

The Database Application Analyst position is responsible for maintaining and enhancing our internal financial reporting database applications for life insurance. Database applications include implementation and enhancements for new and existing products, automation of reporting requirements, ensuring the successful monthly load of the data warehouse, creation of control processes, producing reports, including automated reports and ad hoc analyses. The database application analyst translates complex business and actuarial requirements into programming specifications and technology solutions collaborating with business, finance and technology teams.

The Database Application Analyst position supports the life insurance financial reporting data warehouse including:

  • Collaborate with business partners to determine requirements and functional specifications
  • Liaise with technology database administrators and other areas of technology for implementations and maintenance
  • Coordinate and work with other members of the database application team to, implement, maintain and enhance process flows, database table structures, objects, reports, and queries
  • Maintenance of the database stored procedures, views and functions
  • Translate complex business and actuarial requirements into programming specifications
  • Perform programming based on specifications using tools such as oracle sql, linux, pl/sql
  • Analyze and produce adHoc and planned reporting requests for feasibility, impact on current processing and to support business needs
  • Deploy controls to meet audit requirements
  • Document process flows for use by team members and external stakeholders
  • Create technical documentation for systems team
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry and technology process trends and apply that knowledge to existing processes with a focus towards process and methodology improvement.

Qualifications

  • 4-year college degree with a minimum of 2 years in a database application development or database administrator role preferred
  • Proficiency in oracle sql, oracle pl/sql, LINUX, TOAD, Excel
  • Knowledge of Business Intelligence Tools
  • Knowledge of MS-Access, Python preferred
  • Business knowledge of Life Products
  • Ability to work on multiple projects with a sense of urgency and ability to change focus to complete critical systems
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills with a problem-solution attitude
  • Detail oriented, with a comprehensive approach to validating and proofing deliverables

Salary range: $72,500-$107,500

Overtime eligible: Exempt

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes

Sales bonus eligible: No
