AWS Infrastructure is looking for a Systems Engineering Manager to join our Data Center Systems team. We design, develop, deploy, and operate automated solutions for Amazon’s worldwide data centers.
We are seeking a passionate and motivated engineering manager to join a team that owns and operates a number of critical infrastructure systems. The ideal candidate will have experience managing an international or multi-city team of highly skilled individuals be innovative and have great problem solving and analytical skills. You must be very comfortable and confident working on Linux systems. You must have very strong knowledge of operating system and networking fundamentals. You understand TCP/IP and other common network protocols. You are proficient with at least one high-level scripting language (such as Python, Ruby, or Perl). You should have a bias toward automation and track record of creating automated solutions. You have experience operating distributed systems and diagnosing and resolving complex problems. You pay attention to detail and solve problems at their root.
You will be working in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift quickly. You must be flexible and adapt well to a wide range of tasks and technologies
This position can be located in any of the following Amazon Office Locations: Seattle, WA, Denver, CO, Northern Virginia, or Columbus, OH

- Able to implement and track team goals, report the status of ongoing projects upwards.
- Experienced Interviewer, able to develop launch plans for new hires, and identify team needs.
- Strong writing skills, able to articulate thoughts clearly and concisely
- Ability to manage scope of work relative to the site specifics and customer needs.
- Ability to manage project engineering to determine the scope of work relative to the design intent of the customer needs
- Provide technical assistance as needed to internal customers
About the team
The Data Center Systems (DCS) Support team drives the scaling of DCS tools and products to AWS’ global infrastructure.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated success in leading and managing teams, preferably in a Controls, Mechanical or electrical construction environment
- Experience as a Systems Engineering Manager
- Minimum 5 years of managing a highly skilled team -Project management, organization and problem solving skills with a drive for results and the ability to handle multiple task
- Must possess ability to build peer relationships as well as work independently.
- Must be able to operate with little to no supervision
- Willing to travel domestically and internationally
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, or other related engineering or computer science degrees as well as ten (10) years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $109,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
