The AWS ADC Commerce Platform (CP) Operations team is seeking an Engineering Manager who can thing big and simplify solutions to complex problems, all while ensuring our customers continue to have the best experience possible!
Key job responsibilities
You will provide exceptional leadership for a team of highly talented engineers that build and operate Commerce Platform’s (CP) systems that enable customers to purchase AWS services while understanding and managing their cloud infrastructure costs.
Our engineering teams support services running in air gapped regions that are often isolated from the public internet creating unique engineering challenges and opportunities for innovation. The ADC Commerce Platform (CP) Operations team is responsible for diving deep to resolve operational challenges, innovating to automate operational tasks, supporting execution of various security campaigns (blocked software, host patching), and parity program activities such as data migration, client migration and service cutovers.
As a leader you will:
• Hire, motivate, mentor and develop a team of engineers, promoting growth and opportunity
• Define the structure and strategy for the team determining the right mix of engineers and where they need to be allocated to meet the business goals.
• Establish a roadmap and successfully deliver engineering solutions that execute that vision. Your roadmap influences the organizational goals and you are involved in the yearly planning process.
• Provide your team with the necessary support to take responsibility for team systems end-to-end (design, code quality, system health).
• Develop senior engineers promoting growth and opportunities to demonstrate higher level role scope, impact, complexity, and leadership.
• Work cross functionally to foster a constructive dialogue, harmonize discordant views, and lead the resolution of contentious issues.
• Be an operational leader: Take a data driven approach consistently utilizing metrics to measure performance gaps and increase productivity by improving processes at the local level while driving improvements on the global scale.
About the team
The CP ADC Operations team provides support for the suite of Commerce Platform services operating in the ADC (air gapped) regions. Commerce Platform processes trillions of events per month from AWS services such as these to provide bill generation, payment processing, fraud prevention, customer usage, and analytics to both AWS customers and internal users. Because we sit at the nexus of all AWS services and interact directly with end-customers, we work closely with other AWS teams to ensure our customers are provided with a great experience.
This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and currently possess and maintain an active Top Secret security clearance.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience
• 5+ Years experience leading a support organization for a large complex suite of integrated products (commercial or internal), in a 24X7 environment
• Robust understanding of support processes- SLA, handling tickets, monitoring and metrics
• Current Active Security Clearance of Top Secret or above
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience hiring, mentoring, developing and managing a highly successful and efficient tier-1 product support team focused on software solutions.
• Proven ability to automate processes (experience with scripting languages)
• Experience in a high volume operational environment including multiple data centers and thousands of servers
• Proven track record of implementing service improvements and optimization in production
• Previous experience building tools/services with Java, Python or Perl
• Database Development/administration NIX system administration
• Proven track record of working effectively across organizational boundaries, bringing together diverse perspectives and finding solutions
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $205,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
