Job Description

Our student communications team is looking for a detailed-oriented, flexible, forward-thinking writer who excels in marketing and collaboration.
You will expertly research, write and edit messaging for student communications. Learning all you can about our audiences is the foundation to great writing in every project. High school and college students will all be hearing from us, and with your work, every message will be perfectly crafted for the specific audience.
You are best at understanding assignments and applying your research and current best practices to craft the right message for the right audience for us to send at the right time. You take ownership of being the gatekeeper of all stats and brags that we use in our content and maintain their accuracy. And you excel at editing your own work first and incorporating additional feedback from our team and our clients while maintaining a university-first attitude.
You will be part of a highly efficient, collaborative, kind, and energetic team. A team where all ideas warrant discussion, no viewpoint is discouraged, and everyone gets a seat at the table.

Job responsibilities

  • Write accurate and creative copy for a variety of channels including email, text, web, social media, and print.
  • Find and confirm stats and brags from all divisions and offices across campus and incorporate as appropriate. Curate and maintain content library to make current copy points available to writers/creators across campus.
  • Research writing and marketing best practices for our core audiences, share the findings with other campus teams, and incorporate the information into team processes.
  • Assist with identifying marketing strategy and the development of tactics.
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of the student communications goals, university programs, and enrollment management priorities and use this knowledge to generate content that achieves strategic objectives.

• Maintain consistency in your writing in order to meet the student communication goals
• Incorporate MU style guide and AP style in all content.

Salary

Salary Range: $50,400-$52,000

Grade: GGS 09E

University Title: Strategic Communications Consultant

Shift

M-F, 8am-5pm

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Two years of experience in writing audience specific messages for campaigns.

Email 1 – write a marketing message to encourage a high school junior who has expressed interest in Mizzou to come for a campus visit.
Email 2 – write a transactional message reminding a high school senior that the scholarship deadline is approaching.
