KIPP NYC Director, High School Expansion

Company Description

KIPP NYC Public Schools is a non-profit network of free, public charter schools that prepares students for success in college and life. In 1995 we started our first middle school, KIPP Academy, in The Bronx. Our goal was to graduate students with the strength of character and academic abilities needed to succeed in high school, college, and beyond – and in so doing, to prove what is possible for all students. Today, our New York City network is comprised of eight elementary schools, nine middle schools, one high school, and KIPP Forward, a comprehensive support program for our alumni. KIPP NYC Public Schools currently serves more than 9,350 students and alumni, has a staff of more than 1,000, and continues to grow!

Job Description

Over the next two years, KIPP NYC will be expanding high school enrollment by approximately 1200 students to eventually serve 2400 students in one large high school spread across two buildings in the South Bronx. • Through research, site visits, interviews with KIPP NYC leaders and highly regarded high school practitioners, the Director will craft an instructional vision that will outline course offerings and pedagogical approach across departments.
  • Create a comprehensive plan for arts, sports, culture and technology initiatives at the High School
  • Create meaningful opportunities for community partnerships between the school community and the South Bronx.
  • Design a high school expansion process and plan that incorporates KIPP NYC regional goals and current high school goals, grounded in our KIPP NYC High Graduate Aims
