RATE OF PAY: $33.97/ hour plus a comprehensive benefits package to include membership in the Arizona State Retirement System
**UNDERFILL RATE OF PAY: $30.57/ hour until one (1) year of experience is acheived. An increase to $33.97 will be made at that time. Also includes a comprehensive benefits package to include membership in the Arizona State Retirement System.

Under general supervision, performs professional nursing care of routine difficulty within the scope of practice for RN’s in a public health program; performs related work as assigned.
Performs Public Health nursing work in a specific population-focused geographical area. The focus of this classification is the practice of promoting and protecting the health of client populations using knowledge from nursing, social and public health disciplines. This classification is distinguished from other Patient Care Services and nursing classifications by its primary focus on the prevention of illness and the promotion and maintenance of health of client populations.

TYPICAL DUTIES: (Illustrative Only)
Applies principles of epidemiology in disease investigations, community assessments and determining service needs of individuals, families or communities;
maintains appropriate confidentiality of all information encountered in performance of duties;
instructs individuals, families and community groups in health education and disease prevention;
participates in documentation and reporting of grant deliverables for grant funded program;
administers medications and immunizations, following physician’s instructions;
participates in community education and individual patient/client education;
participates in the provision of public health and related medical services at neighborhood, mobile and out-reach clinics;
plans for and participates in field research related to public health nursing.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess and maintain an unrestricted license in good standingas a Registered Nurse (RN) issued by the Arizona State Board of Nursing; one (1) year of experience performing direct patient care and/or community health nursing as an LPN or RN in a clinical, public health, home health or hospice nursing position; must possess current CPR certification or obtain prior to beginning employment; must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license and the ability to be covered by county insurance.
An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be considered.

Considerable knowledge of:
- principles and practices of nursing;
- principles and practices of public and community relations;
- public health issues, concerns and needs;
- communicable disease programs and public health programs.
Good knowledge of:
- community medical and social services resources and their availability;
- modern office practices and procedures.
Working skill in:
- Vaccine administration;
- documentation in electronic health record system;
- preparing and delivering medical/public health training and information directly to patients/clients, their families and to the general community;
- maintaining appropriate confidentiality of information encountered during performance of duties.
Ability to:
- establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other agencies, and the public;
- follow written and verbal instruction;
- read, write and speak English;
- communicate effectively verbally and in writing;
- drive/travel to various work sites within the county.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is primarily performed under general supervision. Incumbent generally performs work in a typical clinical setting and includes possible exposure to needles and blood borne pathogens. Work may be performed outdoors in a variety of climatic conditions. Travel required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Essential functions of this position require: lifting, manual dexterity, large motor skills, ability to communicate.
Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body; involves sitting only occasionally, walking and standing are required regularly, incumbents may be required to kneel, crouch/squat, crawl, climb, stoop, turn/twist, balance, reach, or handle.
Mental Application: Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability and creative problem-solving skills are important.
