DESCRIPTION
The Outpatient Senior Speech Pathologist is responsible for speech therapy patient service delivery including evaluation and treatment of routine and complex patients. Responsibilities include evaluating outpatients with speech, language/cognitive, swallowing or voice disorders, completing appropriate documentation/reports and developing and implementing appropriate treatment goals. Additionally, the Senior Speech Pathologist will collaborate with physicians in the Movement Disorders clinic, ALS clinic, and with PT and OT to provide comprehensive rehabilitation care. The Senior Speech Pathologist will provide neurological care to treat patients with dysphagia, traumatic brain injuries, strokes, Parkinson’s Disease, ALS, provide augmented communication assessments and cognitive rehabilitation.
Performs services that may include modified barium swallow studies. Performs other related duties. Completes required documentation and communicates patient information across the continuum of care. Participates in training and program development and represents the department to the medical and general community.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an educational institution approved by the Board of Speech-Language Pathology.
- Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) license issued by the state of California.
- BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience as a licensed speech pathologist.
- Certificate of clinical competence in speech pathology awarded by the American Speech and Hearing Association.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- LVST-LOUD and SPEAK OUT! certification.
- Four to seven (4 -7) years of experience as a licensed speech pathologist in a large healthcare environment.
- Outpatient experience in neurologic conditions including movement disorders.
- Experience with evaluating/treating Dysphagia/Swallowing.
- Completed Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) and holds ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competencies (CCC-SLP).
- Demonstrated experience as a Clinical Instructor.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $89,951 – $118,703 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $43.08 – $56.85
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
