This position will work a hybrid schedule depending on patient demand which includes a combination of working both onsite at 8950 Villa La Jolla Drive and remote.

The Women’s Reproductive Mental Health Program at UC San Diego Health offers tailored, expert care for mental health conditions across the woman’s reproductive life span. We work closely with our colleagues in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Reproductive Medicine. We provide a multitude of services for those suffering from perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, pregnancy loss, and traumatic birth experiences. We have worked with patients who have had difficulty with conceiving and who are receiving different fertility treatments. We also help patients navigate the many aspects of family planning and family rearing and working with their partner(s) to grow a healthy family.

The LCSW position in the Women’s Reproductive Mental Health will provide various aspects of clinical therapeutic services including diagnostic evaluations, assessments, treatment planning, care coordination, case management, individual therapy and sometimes couple’s therapy. The provider will treat pregnant and postpartum women who require treatment due to perinatal mood and anxiety symptoms, attachment/bonding issues, traumatic birth experiences, and pregnancy/infant loss.

The position will also help facilitate both psychoeducational and psychotherapeutic groups for patients at the UCSD Women’s Reproductive Mental health program. There will be multiple opportunities to provide relationship-based / dyadic mental health therapy services to new and expecting mothers experiencing negative impact on functioning due to mental health symptoms during the perinatal period. In addition, the provider will engage in weekly multidisciplinary team meetings to establish treatment goals, strategize appropriate treatment course trajectories and comprehensive treatment plans for their patients within the Women’s Reproductive Mental Health Program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Master’s Degree in related area.
  • LCSW issued by the State of California.
  • A minimum of three (3) years post Master’s Degree (MSW) experience.
  • Experience working directly with and providing therapy to perinatal patients suffering with mood and anxiety disorders.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing. Excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with ethnically and culturally diverse populations and co-workers, exercising tact, flexibility and diplomacy.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge and skill in short-term problem-focused psychotherapeutic interventions.
  • Thorough working knowledge of DSM-V categories and differential diagnosis.
  • Experience in conducting comprehensive clinical assessments including generation of differential diagnosis.
  • Experience formulating a wide variety of treatment plans based on the sound integration of theory and practice.
  • Clinical experience and training in multidisciplinary healthcare settings.
  • Competency, theoretical understanding, and clinical experience in providing evidence-based therapies including cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, mindfulness, dyadic and attachment-based therapies, and dialectal behavior therapy.
  • Experience in managing a varied caseload with a continual flux of new intakes.
  • Strong writing ability and experience in writing concise, factual psychosocial notes and program reports.
  • Psycho-diagnostic interviewing skills and diagnostic evaluations, especially within a multi-disciplinary medical setting. Strong crisis intervention skills. Demonstrated ability to deliver care in an ethical, non-judgmental, and non-discriminatory manner.
  • Proven confidence and experience in running groups employing different evidence based therapeutic modalities for treatment including dialectal behavior therapy (DBT), interpersonal therapy (IPT), mindfulness and cognitive behavior therapy (CBT).
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $90,137 – $118,745 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $43.17 – $56.87

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
