Position: Caseworker/Program Facilitator – Forest City PA Service Center
Location: The Salvation Army, 632 ½ Main Street, Forest City, PA 18421
Department: Service Extension
Availability of Position: Immediately
Schedule: On-Call, up to 19 hours per week
Reporting Relationship: Assigned Regional Manager
Salary/Grade: $11.00 per hour; 72, Non-Exempt
Responsibilities
Description of Position: Maintain a positive presence in the Forest City Community, develop and maintain the programs of The Salvation Army, and foster good relations with volunteers and other community agencies. Candidate will be expected to respond courteously and promptly to all communications, provide intake and referral services for Salvation Army clients through the Forest City Service Center and the surrounding areas in Susquehanna County, insuring confidentiality of all client information. The caseworker will provide monthly statistical reports to the Regional Manager and regular Service Unit Committee meetings and work closely with the chairperson of the Forest City Service Unit Committee. He or she will also provide intake for governmental and other agency funding programs such as EFSP, maintain all records within established guidelines for each program, organize and coordinate all seasonal programs and create others as needed or prompted including Camp, Community Cares, Monthly Food Pantry Distribution, Back To School, Summer Lunch Box Program, and all Salvation Army Christmas programs of Angel Tree, Food Baskets, and assistance with the Red Kettle Campaign as needed. The Program Facilitator/Kettle Coordinator will also oversee office inventory management, training any new employees or volunteers, maintaining good relations with other agencies within the community and will need to be self-motivated and self-directed to prioritize work and have a quick response to those in the field. The caseworker will also be responsible for attending United Way meetings and other local agency meetings as necessary or recommended to further the outreach and effectiveness in the community for the Forest City Service Center. The caseworker will also perform all other duties as assigned by the Regional Manager.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- High School Education with 5 years’ experience and/or extensive work history in diversified setting.
- Working knowledge of computer programs: Microsoft Windows, Word, Power Point, Excel, and Outlook.
- Typing speed of at least 40 wpm and excellent telephone and all other communication skills.
- Ability to work compassionately and effectively with people seeking assistance.
- As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter. Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.
