DESCRIPTION
New IT project opportunity available through UC San Diego’s Temporary Employment Services. The Computer Installation Tech will be responsible for removing/uninstalling over 400 existing computers, monitors, keyboards, mice, power, and networking located in 42 computer lab locations across campus. Will also Install over 400 new computers, monitors, keyboards, mice, power, and networking. Responsible for removing and dismantling over 20 computer desks and installing new computer desks. Will also prepare (scanning and palletizing) the uninstalled computers, monitors, keyboards, and mice to be moved to the Surplus warehouse. Additionally, will perform cleaning of desks, keyboards, monitors, mice and vacuum out computers in high use areas.
- Anticipated Duration: 2 – 3 months
- Compensation: $26.64 – $30.57 / hour, including paid holidays and vacation/sick leave. Basic medical insurance also available.
- Location: Fully on-site work at various locations across the main La Jolla campus.
- Work schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (earlier start time available)
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience removing and installing computer hardware and networking.
- Experience working successfully in a team and customer service environment, with emphasis on high-quality of service and prompt response to inquiries or other needs for assistance.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Preferred: Degree or course work in information technology.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $55,624 – $79,344 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $26.64 – $38.00
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
