DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Gift Services, the Gift Services Analyst is an integral member of the Office of Gift Services. The incumbent is responsible for the creation and maintenance of all gift funds in Advancement’s donor database (ESP) and Advancement’s STAR dashboard (STAR). Gift fund integrity is critical to ensure accurate financial reporting for the UC San Diego Foundation and Regents, internal and external Private Support reporting and Stewardship fund reporting. Ensuring gift fund integrity is accomplished through analyzing, verifying and monitoring gift fund data, exhibited knowledge of University and Office of the President policies and procedures regarding gift funds, understanding of campus infrastructure, and performing routine reviews of fund owner accuracy and fund activity. This process involves a high level of analysis, understanding of fund accounting, ability to work in donor and accounting databases, and strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with customers, constituents, and staff. This position requires an individual who is highly detail oriented who can learn and comprehend complex databases with highly detailed policies and procedures.
The Gift Services Analyst will work closely with Advancement Services personnel, as well as Development staff and members of the campus community.
Uses professional concepts. Applies organizational policies and procedures to resolve various issues. Works on problems of limited to moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of multiple factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Contacts are primarily internal to the department, but may also be external.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong written and oral communication skills that demonstrate correct grammar usage, syntax, and format, with the ability to write and explain policies and procedures after analyzing business requirements, regulations and similar information.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience in using computerized ledger and database systems. Use of computerized accounting and database system – familiarity with automated input and reconciliation of data, investigate differences, make necessary corrections and maintain fund data integrity in databases.
- Highly detail oriented with a critical degree of accuracy regarding data entry and analysis.
- Demonstrated experience in providing solutions and/or recommendations using innovative thinking to arrive at a solution.
- Demonstrated experience successfully interacting with all levels of people within and outside the organization, using a high degree of diplomacy, tact, and a high-quality service attitude.
- Excellent communication manners, exercising good manners and grammar during all communications.
- Ability to gather reasonably retrievable information to organize, and perform basic financial analysis assignments.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing clearly and concisely.
- Demonstrated ability using spreadsheet and database software for moderately complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills at all levels within the unit; excellent service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. Demonstrated ability using organizational skills to multi-task in a high volume environment.
- Working knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems.

- Intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
- Demonstrated understanding of fund accounting and chart of accounts terminology.

- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Specific verifiable requirement is the successful completion of college or junior college accounting courses through the intermediate accounting level.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $48,900 – $102,300 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $23.42 – $48.99
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
