Content & Communications Specialist – Enterprise Backbone Program

This job contributes to REI’s success by directly supporting the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Backbone Program. The ERP Backbone Program is foundational in transforming Co-op wide systems and processes in support of the Co-op’s strategic objectives. This role collaborates closely with the program leadership and change management teams to prepare the organization for successful adoption of change impacts, ensuring long term sustainability through thoughtful, relevant and timely communications. The successful candidate will be a rock-solid content developer and communication maven who will connect key stakeholders across the organization to the program’s mission and vision. They will also create awareness of division-specific benefits and impacts.

You’ll contribute to REI’s success by creating and publishing compelling content across internal corporate communication platforms. The goal? To to ensure our employee community is equipped and excited to embrace the future state ways of working enabled through this foundational technology and process transformation initiative. You’ll achieve this through creative content development and delivery and savvy project management-all while living up to REI’s values and mission. You will demonstrate an outstanding track record in the craft of written and multimedia communications. You will be a creative, self-starting team member with the ability to influence and lead peers in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and complex, cross-divisional projects.

Create and publish content

  • Develop multi-media content for internal channels-such as REI wide landing pages, Program FAQ, leadership blogs, presentation materials, video, podcasts and more. This may include interviewing subject-matter experts across the co-op at every level.
  • Create materials for our program communication platforms, with the ability to translate complex and/or technical ideas into easily understood language for broad audiences
  • Manage program communication plan and revise plan throughout the program lifecycle; including stakeholder listings and tracking of participation; ensuring the right audience is included in the right forums and measuring the success of communication efforts.
  • Support development of strategy and lead content creation for key in-person and hybrid engagement moments such as program phase kick-offs, recognition and team events. This includes developing messaging framework and flow, managing communication and partnering closely with program leadership to maximize the power of moments like these.
  • Publish content on organization widechannels, including SharePoint, Teams,REI.com, and other content management systems
  • Drive collaboration across program and cross divisional leaders to gather the needed details required for drafting program communications
  • Facilitate 2-way flow of organizational communication needed to support leaders as they lead the organization effectively through the change and stakeholders as they engage with change activities
  • Develop communication plans and drive execution for all aspects of the project as directed, including change activities, training and upcoming releases and roadmap phasing.
  • Translate business needs across various functions to to determine messaging outcomes and priorities

Communication support and project management

  • Develop and maintain program asset library of videos, photos and other multimedia content; educate team on its use
  • Facilitate 2-way flow of organizational communication needed to support leaders as they lead the organization effectively through the change
  • Serve as expert in REI’s brand standards and support team in consistent execution; partner closely with REI communications team to ensure program comms are inline with organizational leading practices
  • Serve as “super user” for content platforms
  • Serve as project manager for communication strategies, as directed, managing work plans and timelines end-to-end
  • Analyze and share regular metric reports to demonstrate effectiveness of communications strategy
  • Represent the Enterprise Backbone Program, with support from the Enterprise Backbone Change Management Lead on cross-divisional tactical working teams, as directed

Bring your passion and expertise

  • 3+ years of internal or external communication experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications/journalism, or marketing.
  • Additional work experience may be considered in lieu of specific degree requirements.
  • First-class writing and editing experience in a variety of media.
  • Strong project management skills, including development of project plans and timelines.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, measuring and evaluating communication effectiveness, using analytic tools like Google Analytics.
  • Experience working in a retail organization or with a distributed workforce preferred.
  • Highly skilled at developing professional presentations in Powerpoint and/or Prezi.
  • Ability to efficiently produce multimedia content.
  • Able to advise leaders with strong instincts and good judgement
  • Challenges the status quo, champions change and influences others to change.
  • Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environment, juggling competing priorities.

Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include a wide array of factors, including: your specific skills and experience, geographic location or other relevant factors.

The pay for this role is: $63300 – $101500 per year .
