Qualifications:
1. Experience in and knowledge of public school food service or other
comparable area.
- Ability to work effectively with other personnel and supervise other employees.
- High diploma required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Completion of all appropriate training in food service area.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, schedule, organize, coordinate, oversee, support, and evaluate the operation of the school nutrition staff and functions.
- Ability to comply with all VDOE and USDA guidelines and complete all required reports.
- Have knowledge and skills in the use of kitchen and office equipment.
- Possess and use technology skills.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Reports to: Assistant Superintendent
Job Description: The School Nutrition Coordinator will supervise, train, evaluate, and manage the food service operation for the schools. The Coordinator will ensure that appropriate quantities of food are ordered, stored, prepared, and served. He/She will generate communications to students, staff, and parents; maintain high standards of quality in food production, sanitation, and safety practices; and operate an effective, efficient, and safe Food Service Program for Cumberland County Public Schools that meets federal and state laws, regulations, policies, and guidelines.
Supervises: Food Service staff members, including Managers and Assistant Managers
Employment: 12 month contract FLSA Status: Exempt
Evaluation: Evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions for the evaluation of personnel
Salary Range: Coordinator Salary Scale, depending on experience.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Conducts operational management and production management.
- Produces and maintains work schedules and production records. Directs tasks assignments in order to operate effectively and efficiently.
- Maintains food production that ensures the safety and quality of food per guidelines and requirements.
- Ensures that food items are stored in a safe and hazard free environment.
- Ensures that student/parent applications are processed within the timeline and guidelines of the state and information is recorded in student information system, if needed.
- Maintains all service schedules, ensures that all food items are served per menu specifications in a safe and appropriate manner according to local, state, and federal guidelines.
- Maintains a sanitary environment following food service and safety codes.
- Maintains accurate reports of daily and monthly financial, production, and activity records.
- Manages employees at each school site, promoting employee growth, efficiency, morale, and teamwork.
- Maintains a safe and hazard-free working environment.
- Maintains logs on all maintenance required on equipment within the food service program. Performs preventive maintenance checklist.
- Follows all rules, regulations, and policies of Cumberland County School Board and the Commonwealth of Virginia Board of Health Food Regulations and other deemed appropriate including directives from supervisor.
- Ensures that food items are stored correctly and maintains a clean and organized storage area.
- Demonstrates knowledge and proper care and use of equipment.
- Attends regional and state meetings as required.
- Prepares for audits.
- Performs routine maintenance as needed and assists with the general operations of the cafeterias.
- Performs other functions that may be assigned by the administration and/or supervisor.
