The Facilities Renovations Department is seeking (1) a Trades Helper to join the already awesome team taking the Building Maintenance Department to the next level of excellence!

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO

The ideal candidate will perform semi-skilled tasks in various trades. Specific duties will vary depending on the trade area assigned. In addition to supporting the department Trades Helper will also:
• Clean work areas, sweep, collect trash, assist in demolition activities, and move supplies and equipment.
• Performs various routine repairs and maintenance tasks as assigned
• Assists and participates in sanding sheetrock
• Pulls electric cables
• Assists in checking and testing meters, relays, heating, and air- conditions equipment
• Cleans work areas, tools, and equipment
• Changes light bulbs and perform related work as needed
• Transports tools and equipment to and from the storage and work areas
• Operates simple power tools, such as belt sanders, and electric bills
• Operates vehicles to pick up and deliver supplies
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma Or GED and six months experience assisting carpenters, electricians, or other skilled trades employees.
  • A valid Georgia driver’s license is required.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of tools, methods, and practice of building trades
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards of building trades and safety precautions
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting and strenuous manual tasks
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
