Hiring Range: $16.85 – $19.82/hour

Salary Range: $16.85 – $22.79/hour

In this role, the incumbent will serve as the visible point of contact for private events and during our regular operating hours. Primary responsibilities include performing a variety of tasks related to the City and County’s Recreation Services function and providing information and assistance to City and County staff and the public.

Hours vary: Monday-Thursday, 6:15 p.m. – 10:15 p.m. Fridays 4:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m and Saturday-Sunday, 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 a.m.

This is NOT a seasonal position; candidates must be available on a year-round basis.

Essential Required Tasks/Examples of Duties

Supervises/leads employees, volunteers and participants during programs or facility activities as needed. Ensures all scheduled officials, scorekeepers, custodians and recreation workers, facility attendants, instructors, etc are present to perform assigned duties.

Monitors after-hours facility rentals in the Broomfield Community Center to prevent incidents, accidents, and responds to emergencies as necessary. Enforces facility and rental rules and policies while providing excellent customer service.

Opens building at beginning and secures building at end of event. Serves as the main point of contact. Maintain a high degree of visibility and is a visible contact for the public and the event’s contact person. Serves as custodian and supervisor during rentals, assisting rental patrons with cleaning facilities as contracted and providing cleaning supplies.

Coordinates set-up of necessary equipment needed for programs or functions.

Plans, directs and/or instructs various program activities as needed, in accordance with the scope of the position and direction provided in staff meetings, policy guidelines, staff manuals and by supervisors.

Enforces all rules and regulations of programs and facilities; ensures that the facility is safe for use. Ensures adherence to posted policies and rules regarding safe facility and equipment usage.

Post-event breakdown: Ensure all belongings and decorations have been taken, trash has been collected and deposited in the dumpster, bases and equipment have been put away, and the facility is in the condition in which it was found.

Minimum Qualifications

Training– Current, valid AED, First Aid and CPR Certifications preferred. Some college-level education in recreation, physical education, or education preferred.

Experience – None. Previous experience in an organized recreation program and experience working with the public in providing customer service preferred.

Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides evidence that the applicant possesses the Necessary Applicant Traits.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: – Must be at least 18 years of age. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record for continued employment. AED, First Aid and CPR certifications must be obtained within 30 days of employment and must be maintained for continued employment. New hires must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: oral board, reference checks, background checks including local police check and sex offender registry, and driving record check through DMV.

Working Conditions

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. The noise level in the environment is moderate. Work is scheduled for a variety of hours including evenings, weekends and holidays. Working in the Recreation Services Division may require indoor and outdoor activities. The incumbent is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, and may be exposed to a variety of potential safety hazards. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; run, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl or swim. Weight Room will have physical demands that include but are not limited to lifting, moving and maintenance of equipment, setup and take down of inflatables. Physical demands are described as heavy (exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus, and peripheral vision.
