BASIC FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITY: Supervise daytime, weekend, and evening student and parent education activities, including Hoopstars, VolleyStars and major events. Serve as a liaison between Bastrop ISD Community Relations and its volunteers and instructors. Recruit new courses/program offerings. Assist with special projects of the Communications & Community Relations department including community outreach.
ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent level of college hours; bilingual strongly preferred
EXPERIENCE:
- Prior work experience with the public and organizations
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of administration of employee benefits programs
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of administration of workers’ compensation program and applicable laws
- Knowledge of administration of leave programs and applicable laws
- Ability to interpret and disseminate insurance and benefits information to individuals and groups
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in keyboarding and file maintenance
- Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets, databases, and do word Processing
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Create and monitor registration for parent and student education courses, and follow up on enrollment inquiries.
- Ensure that all volunteer and paid staff have completed the necessary paperwork, training and background checks before being allowed to work with students.
- Create flyers and other advertisements for all parent and student education classes/programs as needed.
- Ensure classrooms /gyms are open 30 minutes prior to class time and make sure the class instructor has all equipment needed for class.
- Provide positive public relations by greeting students as they come to class, providing directions, etc.
- Supply instructors/coaches with a class folder, which includes rosters, evaluation forms, class procedures, and student certificates as needed.
- Ensure that all school rules are uniformly observed and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable.
- Determine if follow up is needed for evaluations and surveys.
- Evaluate all classes for effectiveness and community need.
- Ensure that classrooms and buildings are cleaned, locked and secured when class ends.
- Complete all paperwork and record keeping in a timely, organized, and updated manner.
- Be familiar with all aspects of the budget to ensure that resources are managed effectively. Assist the Community Relations department with drafting a new budget each year.
- Help coordinate major events such as the Back to School Bash, Winter Blast and Nachos & Numbers.
- Develop and coordinate new parent education options.
- Ensure site compliance with all federal and state laws as well as BISD, Community Relations, and site policies and procedures.
- Develop and maintain professional working relationships with district personnel.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION:
- Supervision of program instructors for Community Education programs.
