The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department is actively seeking a Parks Construction Project Manager.

This position is responsible for administering and monitoring park project planning and construction services.
This is professional work in recreation planning with a focus on park project planning and construction. The work requires a basic understanding and application of the theories, principles, and practices of park/trail construction project, ADA guidelines, Florida Building Code, construction techniques and budgeting which is usually gained through degree granting schools, or an equivalent level of practical knowledge gained through experience. May assign, monitor, and review the work of others. Contacts with others require skill in understanding and/or influencing people and are important in coordinating and overseeing park projects, resolving work-related issues and problems, and presenting and defending recommendations. Work is performed understands, supervision where the work assignments are subject to established procedures, practices, precedents, methods, techniques, standards, and/or well-defined policies, and the worker plans and organizes the work, determines their own priorities, and the work is reviewed, usually after the fact, in terms of quality, volume, timeliness, and for adherence to established methods, standards and policies.
Examples of Work
- Reviews, evaluates, and maintains project schedule of assigned projects.
- Prepares reports, spreadsheets, and other necessary documents for reporting progress on Parks construction projects.
- Provides general supervision of field project inspector and contractors and subcontractors to keep projects on track and keep management informed of the project unforeseen issues.
- Reviews, evaluates, and resolves disputes and change order requests.
- Monitors expenses and approves progress payments. Updates project tracking spreadsheets.
- Meets financial objectives by forecasting requirements, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective action.
- Ensures that COJ and industry quality standards are met.
- Participates in department or division meetings, intended to resolve issues with both external and internal agencies and departments.
- Provides analysis and decisions on change orders requests to mitigate delays.
- Assigns responsibility, takes corrective action, demonstrates leadership in evaluating, developing, and motivating employees.
- Supervises with facts, focuses on results, provides clear direction, and encourages innovation.
- Develop maintenance plans for facilities.
Open Requirements/Supplemental Information
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in associated field plus
- Three to four years of experience in planning, construction management, construction oversight, park management, landscape architecture, natural resource recreation planning, ecology, or a closely related field.

- A valid driver’s license is required prior to appointment and must be maintained.
