The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) is accepting applications for the position of Director of HR Operations. This is a career, full-time position with a targeted salary range of $88,000.00 – $100,000.00/year with full health benefits and membership in the UC Retirement Plan. Reporting to the Senior Associate Athletics Director, Policy, Risk & People, the Director of HR Operations will oversee and direct the daily human resources and payroll operations of the DIA. Primary responsibilities will include the oversight of the recruitment, employment life-cycle and compensation of all DIA employees, coaches & staff. The Director of HR Operations will independently set priorities and oversee functions in accordance with DIA and University policy & procedures. The Director of HR Operations will also supervise (2) full-time professional and support staff. This position will actively collaborate with the Senior Associate Athletic Director, Policy, Risk & People and the Human Resources Business Partner on DIA organizational development.

All applicants should demonstrate the following abilities and requirements: Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of experience in HR/payroll/people management; Ability to appropriately handle sensitive and confidential human resources situations, issues and information with discretion and tact while maintaining confidentiality; Demonstrated ability to interact diplomatically with individuals of various social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds; Strong ability to think critically and strategically to evaluate information to identify and resolve problems; Excellent interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative, tactful, effective, and harmonious working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, University employees, and the public; Skill in writing clear, concise and grammatically correct business correspondence; Ability to effectively interpret and communicate complex information about payroll, health and welfare benefits, retirement benefits, Staff Personnel Policies and other issues to multiple constituencies; Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and work independently to complete assignments despite various deadlines, competing requirements and changing priorities; Demonstrated ability to read and analyze financial reports, ledgers, and accounting journals; Ability to hire, train, direct, and motivate staff to meet stated goals and objectives and the ability to monitor and evaluate performance; Experience using Microsoft Suite, online purchasing and payroll systems, and similar programs preferred; Knowledge of data management to input and retrieve data and generate statistics and reports via complex linked queries; Experience with comprehensive employment background check process. Live Scan fingerprinting and Live Scan fingerprint rolling certification preferred; Demonstrated ability to on and off board staff in complex, fast-paced, work environment; Working knowledge of Intercollegiate Athletic Department (preferred) and ability to comply with University, Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations, policies and procedures.
