What You’ll Do:
Ohio Department of Public Safety – Director’s Office (Communications)
Report In Location: 1970 W. Broad Street Columbus 43223
Work Hours: 7:00 am – 3:30 pm
(CURRENTLY HYBRID ELIGIBLE) Will report into the office 3 days a week and telework 2 days a week. May be subject to change.
Under general supervision of the Administrative Officer 1 creates original photographic images of variety of subjects or events for use in internal & external publications, posters, slide shows, video stills, video production, media communications &/or employee communications; Operates photographic equipment & accessories to take digital photographs of a variety of subjects or events (i.e., personnel portraits, training exercises, ceremonial events, historical artifacts &/or various Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS) ceremonies); Operates state vehicle to transport equipment & supplies & travel to & from photo shoot locations; Serves as photographic liaison with clients to determine photographic needs; Researches & gathers data (i.e., names, dates, event, location, etc.) for picture captioning, identification of subjects or written materials to be presented in communications; Utilizes cataloging software to identify, retrieve, secure, authenticate &/or store images on server; Maintains knowledge of image management software in order to work with electronic imaging for final product; Utilizes online systems with photograph manipulation software to enhance photographic images, visually interpret message or illustrate procedure or process; Researches methods to best translate concepts or ideas into understandable photographs; Prepares photographic material, layouts, mock-ups & proofs for publications & communications; Advises & consults with authors & designers or other clients to plan & coordinate photographic images for use in all forms of communication; Assists video production unit with studio video camera operation, lighting, teleprompter, set concepts & designs for projects; Videotapes materials for production.
Cleans & performs preventative maintenance on photographic equipment to include sensor on cameras, front & rear elements on lenses, & camera body appearance; Troubleshoots photographic problems to include any poor image quality issues that can arise from camera malfunctions; Add logos, text, & or designs to some of the images after editing; Utilize computer hardware & appropriate software (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.) to manipulate &/or combine computer generated images, photographic images &/or text; Designs various displays; Maintains photo archive using Portfolio software database; Frames & mats certificates, photos & miscellaneous artwork; Operates miscellaneous production equipment (e.g., dry mounting, lamination equipment, cutters & grommet press); Performs other related duties as assigned (e.g., maintains work areas, answers telephones, greets & provides support to walk-in customers, etc.).

Qualifications
Completion of undergraduate core program in photography;
-Or 2 yrs. technical trg. in photography;
-Or 2 yrs. exp. as photographer which includes processing, developing & printing photographic film, digital imaging; &/or operation of digital cameras.
-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
