Job Description
Position Summary
The Payables Processor is an integral member of the Procure to Pay team and plays a significant role in facilitating the department’s success. The Payables Processor has a strong role in ensuring that payment documents are distributed and/or processed in a timely manner.
Ideal candidates should display courtesy, tact, consideration, and discretion in all interactions with other members of the Rice community and with the public.
Salary
$20.00 to $24.49 per hour, dependent upon experience and qualifications
Requirements
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- 5 years of office administration experience
- In lieu of the experience requirement, additional related education, above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent year for year basis may be substituted
- Excellent knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, email, database software programs to complete work assignments
- Excellent attention to detail
Essential Functions
- Ensures that payment documents are distributed and processed in a timely manner
- Audits invoices to ensure precision of accurate keypunching
- May serve as the purchase agent
- Validates information from suppliers while reviewing supporting documentation
- Performs all other duties as assigned
Additional Functions
- Performs research on statements provided by suppliers
- Maintains confidentiality of organizational information
- Validates accounting codes
Preferences
- Accounts Payable Experience
- Oracle Experience
- Demonstrated success at critical thinking and basic accounting skills
- Strong ability to effectively and expertly communicate with suppliers, consultants, management and other clients both verbally and in writing
