Resident Engineer – Transportation

At Jacobs, we push the limits of what’s possible to make the world smarter and more connected. We are tendering for the construction supervision of a Road and Infrastructure works on the Olympic Peninsula, WA. These projects comprise of demolishing existing culverts, constructing new culverts across rivers and streams, as well as asphalt repair, chip seal and overlay.

As a Resident Engineer (Transportation), you will involve extensive interface management with stakeholders and contractors. You will provide oversight of the construction process to ensure that the construction project is safely and accurately implemented on site adhering to the requirements of the construction contract.

You will lead a team in monitoring the progress of construction project and advising steps to ensure the project goals are achieved. You will have the opportunity to manage and direct a team of support staff and site Inspectors for the supervision of the project. You will report on progress, safety, financial projections, quality control and changes in the contract work. You will develop a trusted relationship with the project team, contractor and with the client’s staff. You will place an emphasis on safe construction practices (Beyond Zero) and on maintaining a high quality of construction. Lead by example and oversee safe practices on site.

You will report to the Project Manager and supervise the project team (inspectors, office engineers etc.).

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • 10+ years of construction management experience in the construction of new and widening of roads, highways, freeways, culverts and/or bridges
  • Strong working knowledge of pre-design and pre-construction, contract management, project delivery methods, team building and client relationship
  • Valid Drivers license and good driving history

Ideally You Will Also Have:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or other professional qualification
  • WSDOT experience

Typical salary range for this position is $117,400- $183,500 is commensurate with experience relative to the position.
