Overview
The Director of Training is responsible for establishing, maintaining and delivering effective training to all part-time and full-time employees. The Director of Training, in partnership with the Sr. Director of Talent Development,is responsible for creating, sourcing, and presenting interesting, effective and positive training programs on designated topics. The delivery of training topics shall be timely, productive and relevant to the requirements of the position and to the operation. Training categories will include operational topics (i.e. guest service, cash control, policy and regulatory compliance, cleaning, safety, employee training and supervision, equipment, software applications, etc.), compliance and on-boarding topics (i.e. new employee orientation, employee handbooks, federal and state employment law, leave policies, etc.), and customer/guest service areas (i.e. friendliness, guest satisfaction, upselling, problem-solving, special requests, etc.), and employee relations / supervision (i.e. diversity, anti-harassment & discrimination, conflict resolution, mentoring, etc.). Training for full-time management personnel will include advanced topics regarding hiring and selection processes, performance management, termination, discipline and documentation, etc.
This is a key position for the effective and profitable operation of the business. The employee must maintain excellent attendance and be available to work a variable schedule which may include evenings and weekends. Open availability, professional presentation, outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, self-direction and strong technical (computer and POS) aptitude required.
This role will pay a salary of $70,000 to $90,000.

Responsibilities
• Ensure employees understand and embrace the experience and financial objectives of the venue and OVG, are aware of work place expectations; provide on-going assistance, training and mentoring to staff, promote a positive, enthusiastic and cooperative workplace environment by working side-by-side with staff ; reinforce policies, procedures and practices through repetition; lead by example and provide on-going constructive feedback
• Work with Director of HR,operations managers and Corporate People Operations to identify training needs of each position and department within the hotel and event center
• Source and/or develop comprehensive training program for each department including specific topics / modules, needs and outcome analysis, productivity goals, delivery system, learning and reinforcement tools and resources, metrics and ongoing analysis of effectiveness
• Research and identify external resources that would enhance internal programs
• Research and identify recognized, industry-appropriate certification programs that are relevant to the professional standing and development of OVG Hospitality employees
• Ensure that training opportunities and reference materials are made available to all employees.
• Present modules in an engaging, interactive, enthusiastic and positive manner. Utilize employee and manager feedback surveys (formal and informal) to validate effectiveness and relevancy.
• Collaborate with Human Resources staff to author and publish venue-specific employee newsletter.
Qualifications
• Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff and guests in a clear, professional and courteous manner which fosters a positive, enthusiastic and cooperative work environment.
• Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
• Solid working knowledge of computer applications: Microsoft office, POS systems, timekeeping system, hotel reservations software.
• Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, service-driven environment.
• Ability to maintain a calm, professional, positive, and flexible demeanor in stressful situations.
• Possess a thorough working knowledge of all existing hotel work areas: geographical location, equipment, evacuation procedures, adjacent employee and guest areas, and facility access.
• Possess thorough working knowledge of all applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement and other applicable regulatory requirements, pertaining to Ovations hotel and event center operations.
• Ability to consistently adhere to the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, ethics and confidentiality.
• Bachelor of Arts/Sciences degree and minimum one year related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 3 years training, HR or related employee support experience in a hotel and/or casino environment.
• National Human Resources (HRCI – PHR/SPHR) certification or trainer certification (ASTD) preferred.
